Goldman Sachs Data Analyst Interview Questions for 0-3 years of experience:- 2. How would you visualize time-series data in Power BI/Tableau? ➡️ Time-series data means information recorded over time, like daily temperature, monthly sales, or yearly revenue. ➡️ In Power BI, use a line chart by placing the date on the X-axis and sales or values on the Y-axis. This helps to see trends clearly. ➡️ Use an area chart if you want to show total growth over time with a filled background. ➡️ Add a time slicer so users can filter data by year, month, or week. ➡️ Enable forecasting in the line chart to predict future trends based on past data. ➡️ In Tableau, drag the date column to the X-axis and the measure (like sales) to the Y-axis to create a line chart. ➡️ Convert the date to continuous format to make the trend smoother and avoid gaps in data. ➡️ Add filters to let users explore specific time ranges like a particular year, quarter, or month. ➡️ Use the forecasting feature under the analytics pane to predict future trends based on historical patterns. ➡️ The best way to visualize time-series data is by using a line chart with filters and forecasting to understand past trends and future predictions. Hope everyone understood ! How do you visualize time-series data in Power BI or Tableau? Comment below! Goldman Sachs Data Analyst Interview Questions for 0-3 years of experience: 🔹 SQL Questions 1. Write an SQL query to find the second-highest salary from an employee table. ➡️ Solution: 1.First, sort the salaries in descending order (highest to lowest). 2.Then, pick the second salary from the sorted list. Code:- SELECT DISTINCT salary  FROM employee  ORDER BY salary DESC  LIMIT 1 OFFSET 1; ➡️ Explanation: 1. SELECT DISTINCT salary → Get unique salaries (remove duplicates). 2. FROM employee → Take data from the employee table. 3. ORDER BY salary DESC → Sort salaries highest to lowest. 4. LIMIT 1 OFFSET 1 → Skip the first (highest) salary and pick the next one (second highest). ➡️ Alternate approach (without OFFSET):- code:- SELECT MAX(salary)   FROM employee   WHERE salary < (SELECT MAX(salary) FROM employee); ➡️ Explanation: 1. Find the highest salary → MAX(salary) FROM employee. 2. Find the second-highest → Take the maximum salary that is less than the highest salary. Easy way to remember → Highest salary is 1st, second-highest is just below the highest. Hope everyone understood ! 🔥 Easy Guide to Designing a MySQL Database Like a Pro! ➡️ Understand Requirements – Identify what data you need to store (e.g., users, products, orders). ➡️ List Tables – Break data into tables (e.g., Users, Orders, Products) based on logical groupings. ➡️ Define Columns – Decide what information each table will have (e.g., Users table → ID, Name, Email). ➡️ Set Primary Keys – Assign a unique identifier to each table (e.g., id as PRIMARY KEY). ➡️ Establish Relationships – Use Foreign Keys to link tables (e.g., Orders table has user_id referencing Users table). ➡️ Choose Data Types – Select the right type for each column (e.g., INT for IDs, VARCHAR for names). ➡️ Normalize Data – Remove duplicate data by splitting into multiple tables (1NF, 2NF, 3NF rules). ➡️ Index Important Columns – Speed up searches using indexes on frequently queried columns. ➡️ Write SQL Code – Use CREATE TABLE statements to set up the database in MySQL. ➡️ Test with Sample Data – Insert and retrieve test data to ensure the design works. hope everyone understood !
