The most awaited startup list of the month is out! We are excited to announce this month’s 30 Startups To Watch series – featuring the 30 hottest startups on our radar for August 🚀 Continuing our sprint to find the crème de la crème of early stage startups, this marks the 50th edition of Inc42’s flagship series — ‘30 Startups To Watch’. Notably, the golden cohort of our much-awaited monthly series is being introduced at a time when the investor interest is seemingly skewed towards early stage startups, courtesy of GenAI. According to Inc42’s H1 2024 funding report, seed and growth-stage companies drove the funding trend in H1 2024. Favoured by the advent of AI, the Indian seed-stage startup funding received a booster shot, catapulting it 23% YoY to $589 Mn across 229 deals in H1 2024. Now as Indian early stage ventures prepare to make hay while the investor sun still shines, we present to you the 30 startups that caught our eyes in August. Let’s take a look at who made the list 👀👇 #startups #30stw #entrepreneurship

Beyond Amazon: Why Each E-commerce Marketplace Demands Unique Strategies Over the past one year, we got the opportunity to talk to multiple category managers, brand managers, and ecommerce managers across brands of different categories. We've noticed a common trend: many apply Amazon-specific tools across other marketplaces like Flipkart and other marketplaces to build their ecommerce strategies, overlooking India's unique demographic diversity where every marketplace has different kinds of customers with their own purchasing patterns. This leads to different sizes of categories across multiple marketplaces along with very different category trends and purchase patterns. To highlight the importance of marketplace-specific strategies, we've analyzed the shampoo category (28+ crore monthly market on Flipkart and Amazon) across four key factors: 1. Most selling price points 2. Top selling brands 3. Most selling product sizes 4. Most selling container types Our findings reveal significant differences between Amazon and Flipkart, emphasizing the need for tailored approaches to each marketplace. At Datavio, we're developing a real-time category analysis and trend monitoring solution. By analyzing millions of SKUs across major e-commerce platforms, we help brands optimize their online presence and tap into specific customer purchase patterns to help with ecommerce optimisation and new product launch. Interested in learning more? Let's connect! I'd be happy to share additional insights or discuss how our solution can benefit your brand. Apparels is one of the most densely populated categories across ecommerce marketplaces like Flipkart and Amazon where new sellers and brands keep popping up. While brand recall plays a key role in product sales, customer preferences and purchase trends keep changing. While one color or fabric might be popular one-time, another color or fabric may take the top spot next. Given that India is a land of festivals, the trends keep changing in terms of most searched occasions or designs as well. While one strategy may be to keep launching new designs every week by deeply analyzing the markets, it is equally important to optimize the marketing spends for the top selling product variations as identified from the prevailing market trends. At Datavio, we are building advanced analytics models for multiple categories to help brands understand customer purchase patterns historically and in real-time to take smarter decisions to optimize their presence on ecommerce marketplaces! Here is an overview of how we tag different SKUs and capture purchase patterns in real-time across marketplaces like Flipkart and Amazon. If you are a brand looking to understand what trends are shaping up in your category across marketplaces, book a demo now! Regular market research is critical to understand a brand's share, market opportunities and whitespaces across ecommerce. Most D2C brands in the Indian ecosystem base their market research process solely on Amazon, while Amazon covers less than 40% of the ecommerce market, leaving a significant blind spot in understanding customer behavior. In India, where preferences vary widely, relying on one platform's data can lead to skewed insights. At Datavio, we're changing the game. Our ecommerce intelligence and analytics software aggregates data from multiple marketplaces, offering a comprehensive view of consumer trends and behaviors, while allowing brands to benchmark competition and regularly monitor their ecommerce presence. By analyzing category nuances and product variations across various platforms, we help brands make informed decisions to launch new products, optimize their marketplace presence, and maximize marketing ROI. 📈 Key Benefits: Identify new product opportunities Optimize ecommerce presence Optimize marketing spends Join over 100 small and mid-size brands who have already leveraged our software to drive growth and success. Ecommerce platforms offer direct insights into customer purchase behavior, allowing businesses to identify new product opportunities and optimize their online presence. Real-time category insights are invaluable for understanding a brand’s position and meeting customer demands. Even though category insights are incredibly valuable for understanding customer preferences on ecommerce platforms, capturing them can be a challenge. Key product information such as ingredients, sizes, use cases, and variations is often scattered across product images, text, specifications, or rich product descriptions ( or A+ content). Additionally, each category has its unique nuances and trends, requiring specific tagging specifications. For example, while product ingredients, use cases and variations are crucial for understanding trends in the BPC (Beauty, Personal Care) segment, product color, design, size, and power capacity are vital for categories like power banks. So, how do we manage this? We utilize advanced AI models to simultaneously tag millions of public listings across ecommerce platforms, extracting trends and providing real-time insights to our customers. Check out the attached screenshot as an example to see how our models extract key insights from every public listing. We have currently built our systems capturing insights across major ecommerce marketplaces like Amazon and Flipkart. Are you a brand interested in seeing deep insights for your category and how they can enhance your brand presence? Ever wondered how to gather valuable category insights at scale in the world of e commerce? Imagine aggregating insights from millions of public listings, tagging dozens to hundreds of attributes for each listing across thousands of categories. Connected with estimated sales figures, These insights can predict upcoming trends across major marketplaces like Flipkart, Amazon, Nykaa, Blinkit etc. But why is this important? Category insights can double or even quadruple sales by identifying latent customer demand, market gaps, and optimizing ecommerce presence. By leveraging the public data intelligence, businesses can launch the right product variations, set competitive prices, and advertise more effectively. The best part of building such a high-scale product? Customer feedback, that shows the real value of all the hard work extracting the data and generating insights at this scale. And obviously the team, that has worked tirelessly to execute on the vision. Stay tuned for more!
