Last week, we hosted the HereWeGrow team for the annual review of the Improving Incomes of Coffee Farmers (IICOF) Project, visiting key intervention areas across three Woredas in #Ethiopia. From video-based extension sessions to household #coffee nurseries and women’s self-help groups, we saw firsthand how innovative approaches are boosting coffee productivity and farmer livelihoods. Discussions with #farmers and local stakeholders provided valuable insights into challenges, successes, and opportunities for scaling impact. We also held a learning workshop with the team to reflect on progress, lessons learned, and next steps for expanding impact. Grateful for this collaboration and the shared commitment to driving sustainable change in Ethiopia’s coffee sector! ☕

That’s why open-source, localized #AI is essential—to move beyond one-size-fits-all models and create solutions truly responsive to African challenges. Last week, Hawinet Bekele, Head of Product, #Ethiopia, participated in the ‘Open-Source AI: Unlocking Africa’s AI Potential’ panel hosted by AUDA-NEPAD Africa Policy Bridge Tank and Meta, where she emphasized this point.
