Rohini grew up caring for her siblings at construction sites, unaware of school. When #EducateGirls' Field Coordinator Gokul met her father, he didn’t agree to send his children to school initially. But with persistence, Gokul convinced him of the power of education. Today, Rohini and her siblings are enrolled in school, ready to build a brighter future. As her father shares, “With education, I hope my children will achieve something great.” Thanks to the relentless efforts of Gokul, now Rohini gets to go to school! Improving access and quality of education for over 15 million children by 2024
About us
ABOUT US Established in 2007, Educate Girls' is a non-profit that focusses on mobilising communities for girls' education in India's rural and educationally backward areas. Strongly aligned with the 'Right to Education Act' or the 'Samagra Siksha', Educate Girls is committed to the Government's vision to improve access to primary education for children, especially young girls. Educate Girls currently operates successfully in over 21,000 villages in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. By leveraging the Government's existing investment in schools and by engaging with a huge base of community volunteers, Educate Girls helps to identify, enrol and retain out-of-school girls and to improve foundational skills in literacy and numeracy for all children (both girls and boys). This helps deliver measurable results to a large number of beneficiaries and avoids duplication or parallel delivery of services. VISION We aim to achieve behavioural, social and economic transformation for all girls towards an India where all children have equal opportunities to access quality education. MISSION We leverage existing community and Government resources to ensure that all girls are in school and learning well. GOAL Our goal is to improve access and quality of education for around 15 million children cumulatively by 2024.

These young women from the remotest parts of Rajasthan dropped out of school due to family responsibilities and societal pressures. Through #EducateGirls' Pragati program, they seized a second chance at education! Today, they’ve successfully cleared their Grade 10 exams, proving that it’s never too late to dream big and achieve them. A passionate #TeamBalika volunteer, Raju grew up in a remote village in Madhya Pradesh and witnessed the various struggles the girls in his village faced. Prioritising chores over school, not being able to go to school because of the distance, and traditional norms. He wanted to change the situation and take action. So, he became a Team Balika volunteer, enrolling out-of-school girls, persuading their parents to let them learn and ensuring they had access to education. Today, Raju is proud he has helped transform lives with #education, one girl at a time. #EducateGirls

It's a housefull! As part of our 17th Foundation Day celebrations we played the movie 'Laapata Ladies' for our #TeamBalika volunteers. As passionate #GenderChampions, the movie kept them engaged right through! With its subtle commentary and ease, the film kept them glued to the screen. Our #TeamBalika volunteers work endlessly to send girls #BacktoSchool, and the stories of these two 'lost women' reminded them about the girls and young women they work with. As the leads discover their independence on screen, many of them were reminded why it is essential to empower young girls. The film is loaded with love, understanding, and much more - much of what is instilled in our Team Balika #volunteers as they work tirelessly to ensure every girl has choices and a voice and gets the #education she deserves.
