  • Yesterday, we kick-started our UG workshop, which coincided with the solemn occasion of Mahaparinirvandiwas. We paid tribute to the visionary legacy of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, a champion of social justice and equality along with our UG workshop students, PG crash course students, and staff present at the campus. Our mentor, Pritam Sir, aptly reminded us of Babasaheb's profound impact while addressing our workshop. He delved into Ambedkar's critical thinking and its influence on the making of the Indian Constitution, highlighting his commitment to social justice, equality, and individual rights. As we strive to follow his pathway, we're proud to note a significant milestone that we have achieved in this workshop– for the first time, our workshop has seen a higher number of girls participating than boys! With 52 girls and 37 boys, some more students are yet to come by tomorrow morning. Kudos to our UG coordinators who have done an amazing job in counseling and motivating these kids to go out of their village to our campus. We have some parents accompanying their daughters too! This achievement resonates deeply with Babasaheb Ambedkar's ethos. He tirelessly advocated for women's empowerment and education. Our workshop's demographics reflect a small yet significant step towards realizing his vision of a more equitable society. The remembrance ceremony also saw our PG crash course students interact with this workshop batch, sharing their Eklavya experience. It's a joy to witness them thoughtfully leading and guiding the next generation and sharing their transformative stories! We're excited to witness the growth of these 18-year-old minds and their potential to become catalysts for positive change ahead! Stay tuned for the UG workshop updates. #MahaparinirvanDiwas #WomenEmpowerment2024 #SocialJustice #criticalthinking

  • #farewellparty From being Eklavya Aspirant to becoming Eklavya Alumni now! 3 months passed by so quickly. As we bid farewell, our hearts were filled with a mix of emotions - laughter, tears, nostalgia, and pride. It was fun, but also overwhelming in the most sentimental way. As we part ways, we carry with us the lessons, love, and memories of Eklavya. Congratulations, dear alumni, on this new chapter! For the next aspirants, we have a PG crash course next month. Register through the link given here -https://lnkd.in/dvRPwZMG

  • Umesh Solanke, an Eklavya Alumni from the Beldara community in Melghat's Kanjoli village, is pursuing a BSc in Chemistry at Nagpur's Ambedkar College. He shares the harsh reality of the copy culture prevalent in local educational institutions in his village. Many students study only till 12th grade and discontinue their studies thereafter, prioritizing financial independence over higher education. It's rare for students from his community to move to big cities for higher education. Umesh is an exception, recognizing the importance of quality formal education. He hopes to inspire others to pursue higher studies in top institutions, not just for the sake of earning a degree. Join Umesh and many others who are breaking barriers! Register now for our UG Workshop, designed specifically for students from rural and tribal areas, and take the first step towards a brighter future! Register here: https://lnkd.in/d2ZQqb5S The application deadline is tomorrow - 1 December! Akash Modak Prathamesh Chavan Piyush Gangreddiwar

Embarking on my journey from the remote village of Ghujji (with no school) in Giridih, Jharkhand, to the heart of London for my study at the Birkbeck, University of London, the Chevening Orientation has been nothing short of extraordinary. Meeting over 1,330 scholars from 144+ countries, each representing diverse educational backgrounds and institutions across the UK, was a profoundly overwhelming and enriching experience. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, Chevening Awards, Birkbeck, University of London, and the Govt of Jharkhand for funding this remarkable journey. A special thanks to my fellow India Chevening scholars for their camaraderie, which made this adventure unforgettable. Here's to exploring a world of endless possibilities together! Thank you to all my mentors and friends who supported me in this journey. Eklavya India Foundation

  • #gentlereminder to register for our UG workshop happening in December and spread the message to those who might benefit from this workshop! Aditya Tekam's story is just one example of a first-generation college student who never thought of going out of his district to pursue higher studies. All our Eklavya alumni have such journeys in which stepping out of their district for higher education is a big deal. Despite all the challenges, he is now enjoying learning at IISER and wants more students from his Gond community to come to this institute. It is not just about quality education, but also about the representation of socio-economically marginalized communities in this space. We aim for a future where students like Aditya do not feel isolated, lonely, and odd one out in classrooms at such institutes but see folks from their space, and culture as well! Help us achieve that by sharing the link below with potential students who might like to attend the workshop and get more awareness about such educational opportunities!
