SEBI, through its circular on 17th Dec, notified changes to its guidelines on issuances of Overseas Derivatives Instruments (ODIs). These changes are aimed at addressing the regulatory arbitrage between ODIs and FPIs. SEBI has effectively brought ODIs at parity with FPIs with respect to disclosure requirements and concentration norms. Further, FPIs are prohibited from issuing ODIs with derivatives as underlying.
