Today, Faith Foundation had the pleasure of hosting Donald Lobo from Project Tech4Dev. His visit was incredibly enriching for our team, as we had the opportunity to learn extensively about integrating technology into our work. Some points to reflect upon include: Do we need it? Do we have the capacity to handle it? Is it our need or the need of the donor to integrate technology?
Donald took the time to understand our organization and its mission, offering valuable insights on how we can enhance our processes. One key takeaway was his emphasis on strengthening existing systems and processes, so that we can focus on refining them rather than overhauling them with technology. He shared the importance of technology while noting that some organizations, especially those dealing with one-to-one human engagement, may not require it.
Donald also highlighted the importance of having a strong case documentation plan. By minimizing daily work and maximizing data collection, organizations can operate more efficiently and effectively. He also mentioned that we only need to collect the data required and should be respectful, understanding that the data belongs to the community, not us. The question is, do we need so much data, and are we able to use it, or is the data just collecting dust?
Additionally, he underscored an important consideration: in communities with limited access to the internet, traditional methods such as pen and paper are still valuable for data collection. This approach ensures that we remain adaptable and resourceful, catering to the specific needs and circumstances of the communities we serve.
Overall, the visit was a great learning experience, reaffirming our commitment to thoughtful and efficient practices. We are grateful for Donald's insights and look forward to applying these learnings to better serve our community.
Thankyou for visiting us Donald Lobo.
