Today, Faith Foundation had the pleasure of hosting Donald Lobo from Project Tech4Dev. His visit was incredibly enriching for our team, as we had the opportunity to learn extensively about integrating technology into our work. Some points to reflect upon include: Do we need it? Do we have the capacity to handle it? Is it our need or the need of the donor to integrate technology? Donald took the time to understand our organization and its mission, offering valuable insights on how we can enhance our processes. One key takeaway was his emphasis on strengthening existing systems and processes, so that we can focus on refining them rather than overhauling them with technology. He shared the importance of technology while noting that some organizations, especially those dealing with one-to-one human engagement, may not require it. Donald also highlighted the importance of having a strong case documentation plan. By minimizing daily work and maximizing data collection, organizations can operate more efficiently and effectively. He also mentioned that we only need to collect the data required and should be respectful, understanding that the data belongs to the community, not us. The question is, do we need so much data, and are we able to use it, or is the data just collecting dust? Additionally, he underscored an important consideration: in communities with limited access to the internet, traditional methods such as pen and paper are still valuable for data collection. This approach ensures that we remain adaptable and resourceful, catering to the specific needs and circumstances of the communities we serve. Overall, the visit was a great learning experience, reaffirming our commitment to thoughtful and efficient practices. We are grateful for Donald's insights and look forward to applying these learnings to better serve our community. Thankyou for visiting us Donald Lobo. Rebuild India Fund Supriya Bajaj

  • Exciting Meeting with Chief Minister Conrad Sangma! Today, Faith Foundation had a highly productive discussion with Chief Minister Conrad Sangma in Shillong, focusing on critical issues of child safeguarding and youth empowerment in Meghalaya. We presented our comprehensive Personal Safety Education (PSE) program, which has positively impacted 41 schools, 14,715 students, and 1,823 adult stakeholders across the state. Our objective is to further expand this program and implement our Child Safeguarding Policy in all government schools. Chief Minister Sangma emphasized the importance of “shaping the youth,” underlining the need to address the critical challenges faced by children and youth in Meghalaya. He encouraged us to collaborate with additional state government departments and explore existing programs for children and youth. Shannon Dona Massar, Director of Faith Foundation, stated, "We believe that our work aligns with the Chief Minister's vision to harness the creative potential of the youth and create pathways for their development." We are excited about the potential collaboration with the government and other stakeholders to create a safer and more empowering environment for children and youth in Meghalaya. Stay tuned for more updates on our future action plans!
