The central figure of the painting is a deer, standing in the middle of a glass room; its posture and gaze convey a deep yearning for freedom, as it looks back at the unnatural confines of the environment created by humans. The glass house itself symbolizes the delicate captivity imposed upon wildlife, a visual metaphor for how animals are restricted by the boundaries humans have set.
