Streamplay Studio (ASX:SP8) is set to acquire North American gaming company Noodlecake Studios, aiming to expand its influence in regional and global gaming markets. Founded in 2011, Noodlecake has a portfolio of over 60 games, which have collectively reached more than 270 million downloads. The studio also collaborates with major brands such as Apple, Google, Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo, and Steam. The acquisition involves Streamplay purchasing Noodlecake from its current parent company, Chinese mobile game publisher ZPLAY Technology. Noodlecake’s strong revenue performance was a significant factor in Streamplay's decision. Over 13 years, Noodlecake has earned over $15 million from in-app purchases, $9 million from game sales, and $18 million through advertising, with an average annual revenue of $7.3 million over the last three years ending December 2023. The acquisition is expected to be finalized before December 31, 2024.  “This is a profitable business with robust revenues that delivers synergies complementing Streamplay’s existing technology and service offerings, creating significant opportunities to enhance our product suite,” said Bert Mondello, Chairman of Streamplay Studio. “Over the past two years, we have worked diligently to maintain strong cash reserves while identifying the right opportunity and I believe this acquisition positions Streamplay for substantial growth in the global gaming industry."

Samsung Electronics recently launched its new mobile cloud gaming platform for Galaxy devices in North America, following a year of beta testing. Now available through the Samsung Gaming Hub app, this platform allows users to play games instantly, with no need for downloads or installations. Initially introduced last year under the name Game Launcher, this streaming service was designed to boost engagement with Samsung’s ecosystem and increase ad revenue, which had declined with the drop in game-install-based ad profits. The platform went live as an official beta on October 5, 2023, and aims to make gaming accessible and seamless for Galaxy users. At launch, Samsung’s service offers 23 popular games, all free to play—no subscriptions required. Games can be accessed through ads, the Galaxy Store, or directly within the Gaming Hub, making it simple for players to dive into their favorite games without the usual setup. The beta results have been promising. According to Samsung, 50% of users who clicked on a cloud gaming ad or link during the beta began playing immediately—well above industry averages. During testing, the platform saw a 149% increase in active users across the United States and Canada, signaling strong interest and engagement from the Galaxy community.
