One more point of view, I missed to add.. Your site should be ready for heavy load of google bot, during the Re-ranking process. If the website throws 503 errors, then you will loose the opportunity of re-ranking. Because, the google bot slow down due to this error. Two kind of rankings happens when you launch a site. 1. Initial ranking - Right after the indexing of the page. 2. Re-ranking - After collecting the Historical data of the page and rankings are calculated.. The Algorithm can promote or demote you during broad core algorithm updates.
