Mishra, FRM and Mr. Sandy Khanda , met with Dr. Heera Lal Patel IAS , Secretary, Government of Uttar Pradesh , at Uttar Pradesh Bhavan, New Delhi. Dr. Heera Lal Patel, widely known as the Dynamic DM for his outstanding contributions to water conservation, has led remarkable initiatives like the Model Village project, promoting sustainable rural development. Recognizing the Green Pencil Foundation’s commitment to environmental awareness and education, he applauded its efforts, particularly the Clean and Green Faridabad Mission. This mission, launched in collaboration with Imperial Auto Industries , focuses on delivering Sustainable Practices Workshops in government schools across Faridabad. The initiative aims to educate students about climate change, waste management, and sustainable living while providing resources like reusable cloth bags, metal bottles, and cloth pads for menstrual hygiene. Green Pencil Foundation and Faculty of Law, University of Delhi, Organize National Debate Competition New Delhi, March 5, 2025 – The Green Pencil Foundation, in collaboration with the Faculty of Law, Law Centre 2, University of Delhi, successfully hosted a National Debate Competition at Umang Bhavan, University of Delhi, on March 4th and 5th, 2025. The event saw the participation of over 250 students from colleges across India, making it a significant platform for intellectual exchange and youth engagement. Fostering Intellectual Discourse The debate competition, designed to encourage critical thinking and policy-oriented discussions, was held over two days. On March 4th, the first round commenced at 8 AM, where students presented arguments on legal and socio-political issues. The finalists engaged in thought-provoking deliberations on March 5th, competing for top honors. The event was graced by Mr. Gaurav Mishra, Co-founder of Green Pencil Foundation, and Mr. Ashwini Upadhyay, a Senior Advocate of the Supreme Court of India, who played a pivotal role in guiding the participants. Mr. Sandy Khanda, Founder of Green Pencil Foundation, attended as a special guest, inspiring students to actively participate in policy discussions and legal debates. Recognizing Excellence The competition witnessed fierce yet constructive debate, with top teams showcasing exceptional rhetorical skills and legal acumen. The winners were honored with cash prizes and sustainability-themed rewards, aligning with the Green Pencil Foundation’s commitment to environmental awareness. Winners of the National Debate Competition 1️⃣ First Prize – Law Centre 2, University of Delhi Award: ₹2,000 Cash Prize + Sustainable Kit (Cloth Bags, Metal Water Bottles, and Books) 2️⃣ Second Prize – Hindu College, University of Delhi Award: ₹1,000 Cash Prize + Sustainable Kit (Canvas Bags and Metal Water Bottles) 3️⃣ Third Prize – MAIMS, Chandigarh Award: ₹800 Cash Prize + Sustainable Kit (Metal Water Bottles, Cloth Bags, and Books) A Step Towards Sustainable Intellectualism The success of the event was attributed to the dedicated efforts of AB Raja Choudhary, a key organizer, and Professor In-charge, Dr. Anupam Jha, who acknowledged the Green Pencil Foundation’s role as a knowledge partner. Dr. Shikha Kamboj, faculty coordinator, also played a crucial role in the smooth execution of the event. During the closing ceremony, Mr. Ashwini Upadhyay, known as the "PIL Man of India," praised the Green Pencil Foundation and its team, particularly Mr. Gaurav Mishra, for their contributions to youth empowerment, sustainability, and legal discourse.
