Social Media: A Time for Stronger Laws? Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw raised concern and called for consensus: “The culture of the countries and the geographies from where these social media platforms originate are very different from our culture. And this debate is occurring in almost all nations of the world.” He emphasised the need for ‘societal consensus’ and ' stronger laws’ to protect cultural values and maintain online accountability. Institute for Governance, Policies and Politics along with Wranga, are leading the efforts in this direction to ensure that social media and OTT platforms reflect India’s cultural values and societal norms.
