Today’s Deccan Herald carries a feature on IIMB’s deliberate efforts to bridge the gender gap in entrepreneurship. Back in 2002, when women accounted for less than 14% of India’s startup ecosystem, IIMB launched the Management Programme for Women Entrepreneurs (MPWE)—now known as the Women’s Startup Programme (WSP). Our faculty, Prof. Suresh Bhagavatula and Prof. Padmini Srinivasan, who specialize in high-potential entrepreneurship, recognized early on the unique opportunities and obstacles faced by women-led ventures in India. Historically, a lack of appetite in female-led businesses limited access to formal financing and investment support. Over 2 decades, IIMB initiatives including WSP, EEP’s Tanmatra and NSRCEL’s 10000 Women have become staple avenues for female founders across the country. 🔗 Interested to learn more?
