Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan announced that over 25,000 positions, including 15,139 faculty roles, have been filled across Central Higher Education Institutions (CHEIs) by October 2024. These appointments address vacancies in central universities, IITs, NITs, and more. Measures such as year-round recruitment and reservation policies for underrepresented groups have streamlined the process. This effort reflects the government’s commitment to enhancing educational infrastructure and faculty diversity. India's One Nation One Subscription initiative, approved by the Union Cabinet, will democratize access to 13,000 e-journals from 30 publishers for 1.8 crore students, researchers, and faculty. UGC Chairman Prof. M. Jagadesh Kumar highlighted its potential to enhance global competitiveness, bridge the rural-urban divide, and boost India's research ecosystem. Managed by INFLIBNET, the initiative supports core and interdisciplinary research with a ₹6,000 crore allocation for 2025-2027. This effort ensures inclusive academic opportunities nationwide.
