🌍In this age of Globalisation, where global migration, digital illiteracy, and urban planning are becoming complex issues, the importance of data has increased tremendously. No matter what field or discipline it is, the importance of drawing conclusions and answers from data is quintessential. The government sectors like public policy, government sectors; they collect data on a daily basis. Political leaders and higher officials make pivotal judgements and decisions for society through analysis and collection of data. A Good public policy is informed by good data analysis. When expertise🧠  is combined with  🔍data interpretation with an understanding of the policy-making process, we reach one step closer to the goal of effective and equitable government. 📌But how can we use data for the betterment of the future? 📌How can we use these data to create a real impact and elevate our careers? 💡IISPPR's 𝗙𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗶𝗻 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗔𝗻𝗮𝗹𝘆𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰 𝗣𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝘆 is designed to address these questions. It is a foundational course that gives students ample opportunity to think and act like data analysts or public policy researchers in order to analyze and visualize data and, thereby, in ways, create a collective understanding of how the world works and how we can mobilize for effective policy change.   The course provides a unique theory-to-practice methodology to give the students a chance to know the field in detail and how it really works. Through hands-on training and real-world applications, students will explore how to work with public datasets, develop insights, and apply them to create meaningful solutions. By the end of the course, you'll be fully capable of understanding various types of data analysis according to the policy to be implemented. Then there's 𝐏𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫 𝐁𝐈 📈, which is all about visuals. It's used to create interactive dashboards and reports that help policymakers see how things are going in real-time. It’s always a great help when you are working with complicated data as it turns the big data into easy-to-understand charts and graphs, making it much simpler for decision-makers to track the impact of policies. 𝐒𝐏𝐒𝐒 📉 is widely used for analyzing survey data. If policymakers want to know what the public thinks or understand social trends, SPSS is a great tool in this situation as it helps process large-scale surveys and test different ideas to figure out what’s working and what’s not. Lastly, 𝐑🧮 is a bit more advanced. It’s great for running predictive models, geospatial analysis, and using machine learning to forecast the impact of different policy choices. It can also help visualize data, just like Power BI, making it easier to see how different factors interact. In our next series of "survey testimonials," we have Shivang, our IISPPR fellow, who conducted surveys on marginalized communities. By listening to these community's aspirations, challenges, and perspectives, Shiwang speaks about the insightful perspectives he gained through the survey. " I had the incredible opportunity to survey communities that face socio-economic challenges. Their unfiltered conversations broke through my preconceived notions of democracy. " He further talks about his challenges while conversing with the community about navigating their hurdles🗣: "Engagement and the first-hand experience with their daily lives were not just about data collection but rather fostering a strong rapport. The conversations and experiences of the people were a testament to their resilience, dreams, and realities. All these experiences made me realize the need to fight and work for an impactful future and why surveys like this genuinely matter. By working with these marginalized communities at grassroots levels, we should amplify such voices and put them at the forefront of the action."
