Sircilla Textile Park Faces Shutdown Amidst Job Losses and Financial Strain The Sircilla Textile Park in Telangana has come to a standstill, with 70 units ceasing operations due to unpaid power dues and lack of marketing support. Approximately 1,000 workers have lost their jobs as a result. Annaldas Anil Kumar, president of the Sircilla Textile Park Cloth Manufacturers Association, stated that shutting down was the only option to avoid further crises. The workers have called on the government for assistance to resume operations. After the announcement on October 1, a team from the Ministry of Textiles visited to assess the situation. Currently, cloth worth Rs 80 crore is unsold, piling up due to marketing challenges. Textile unit owners also expressed concern over high electricity charges of Rs 8 per unit, which they argue is a burden compared to Maharashtra's rate of Rs 2 per unit for similar units. #SircillaTextilePark #TextileIndustry #Telangana #JobLoss #Crisis #Manufacturing #SupportLocal #GovernmentSupport #ElectricityCharges #TextileManufacturers #WorkerWelfare

Textile News: India’s Illicit Market Surge A FICCI report reveals India's illicit market reached Rs 797,726 crore in 2022-23, with textiles and apparel making up over 50%. Growth is driven by high-value luxury goods among the aspirational middle class, opting for higher-taxed items like beauty products (28% tax) and readymade garments (12-18% tax). Tobacco and alcohol, outside GST, are also significantly affected. Rising per capita income has increased the gap between purchasing power and aspirations, fueling the illicit market further. #India #IllicitMarket #Textiles #LuxuryGoods #FICCI #ConsumerTrends #Economy #Taxation #Tobacco #Alcohol #MarketTrends #Counterfeiting #ConsumerAwareness #AspirationalMiddleClass

Skill Development Key to Boosting India's Textile Industry: Ramraj Cotton's Expansion Plans Ramraj Cotton Chairman KR Nagarajan emphasized the need for skill development in India's textile industry to capitalize on opportunities arising from political instability in Bangladesh. He noted that while automation has improved processes like spinning and dyeing, garment production still heavily relies on skilled labor, which India currently lacks. To meet growing demand and double textile exports, significant investment in workforce training is needed. Nagarajan also highlighted Ramraj Cotton’s plans for expansion, including opening new stores, strengthening its domestic presence, and entering international markets like the UAE. #SkillDevelopment #TextileIndustry #RamrajCotton #IndianTextiles #WorkforceTraining #GarmentProduction #ExportGrowth #GlobalExpansion #UAEMarket #IndustryInnovation

India Gains Apparel Orders as Bangladesh Faces Unrest Global clothing brands are turning to India amid political unrest in Bangladesh, boosting orders in Tiruppur and Noida. Tiruppur's knitwear exports have surged, securing orders worth Rs 450 crore from major retailers like KiK, Zeeman, and Pepco. These orders, typically placed later in the year, include knitwear items such as kids' wear and pyjamas. Social audits are underway in 10 Tiruppur factories, signaling future potential. Meanwhile, Noida's apparel cluster saw a 15% rise in orders from Zara, requesting women's tops and dresses. Textile exports to remain strong amid global shifts India’s textile exports are expected to remain strong in 2024, driven by improved demand in export markets and stable cotton prices, despite moderate domestic demand. The ready-made garments (RMG) sector will benefit from restocking by Western retailers, increased demand for spring-summer collections, and potential US interest rate cuts. India may also gain temporarily from the crisis in Bangladesh’s RMG sector, though the impact may be limited due to product differences and Bangladesh's EU trade agreements. #TextileExports #IndianTextileIndustry #RMGExports #GlobalDemand #CottonPrices #ExportGrowth

Indian textile exports to remain strong amid global shifts; FTA negotiations with EU to offer growth opportunities Indian textile exports are poised for growth in 2024 due to rising demand in export markets and favorable conditions. The RMG sector will benefit from Western retailers restocking, strong spring-summer collection demand, and stable cotton prices. Global fashion brands cut Bangladesh orders after turmoil Global fashion brands are moving orders away from Bangladesh following intense political unrest that led to the ousting of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The upheaval caused widespread factory shutdowns, with several facilities, including those supplying major brands like H&M and Zara, being targeted and set ablaze. This turmoil resulted in severe delays in delivering winter collections to Europe and North America, forcing manufacturers to work overtime and resort to costly air shipments to meet deadlines. The instability has shaken international confidence in Bangladesh's garment sector, prompting brands to shift up to 40% of their orders to other Southeast Asian countries like Cambodia and Indonesia. Additionally, many companies are planning to cut their future sourcing from Bangladesh by 30%, posing a significant threat to the country’s economy, which heavily relies on the garment industry. #FashionIndustry #Bangladesh #GlobalTrade #SupplyChain #GarmentIndustry
