Accessible education for students with disabilities in India is crucial for building an inclusive society. Despite policies like the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 and initiatives under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, many barriers persist in terms of infrastructure, teacher training, and societal attitudes. Challenges such as inaccessible school buildings, lack of assistive devices, and inadequate learning materials often hinder students from participating fully. However, innovative efforts like the integration of ICT tools in schools, initiatives by NGOs, and increased focus on inclusive teacher education are gradually making a difference. To ensure true inclusivity, it is essential to address stigma, improve accessibility in rural and urban areas, and actively involve students with disabilities in shaping policies that affect their education. We at Jindal Institute of Behavioural Sciences (JIBS) are delighted to announce that a team of faculty members from the institute have successfully secured a patent for a Portable Device for Generating Intelligent QR Codes for Crime Scene Investigation. This remarkable achievement reflects the collaborative efforts of Dr. Vipin Vijay Nair, Associate Professor, JIBS; Dr. Girraj sharma, Assistant Professor JIBS; Dr. Tara Chand, PhD Chand, Assistant Professor JIBS; and Radhika Sehgal, a student at Jindal Global Law School. This project represents a significant technological advancement by integrating QR (Quick Response) code technology into the documentation and investigation processes of crime scenes. Traditional methods of crime scene documentation often rely on manual, labor-intensive processes such as handwritten notes, sketches, and standard photography, which can be time-consuming and prone to human error. The newly patented innovation introduces a novel tool and technique designed to enhance both the efficiency and accuracy of crime scene investigations. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to the team for this outstanding contribution to the field of forensic science and criminology!
