🌟 What a lovely Children's Day surprise! It's gratifying to see 'No Ticket, Will Travel', my book of children's fiction about India's internal migrants, featured on The Migration Story. The piece is a good round-up of writing for kids on migration, displacement and the climate crisis. Parents, if you want to get your kids started on their journey towards empathy, especially for those less privileged than them, this is a good place to begin. Thank you for this piece, Roli Srivastava and The Migration Story, and most importantly, thank you to my publishers, Karadi Tales Company and People's Archive of Rural India ! #migration #displacement #climatecrisis #childrensbooks #fiction #literature #booksforkids
The concept of home in children’s books often represents a sense of belonging. It plays a crucial role in identity formation, and portrays “the idea of feeling safe somewhere with specific people” as a basic human need. But how do we represent these realities in the context of migration and displacement? In our latest By Invitation column, we have children's writer Vidya Mani looks at books that have explored the themes of poverty, migration, social justice and more. "They hold within them the power to spark conversations, build empathy, find creative solutions and harbour hope of building a better world," Mani writes. Featured authors in the column: Subuhi Jiwani #EstherDuflo Aaniya Asrani Samina Mishra Tara Dairman among others. On #ChildrensDay, we are thrilled to bring this essay dedicated to books to our readers. 👓Read the essay here: www.themigrationstory.com Illustration credit: Sharanya Kunnath #childrensday #Migration #books #storytelling #displacement

Explore the world of murukkus with Saritha Rao Rayachoti's picture book, 'Karukku Norukku'. To read this book and to experience Vibha Surya's adorable illustrations head to
I always believed I'd write the Great Madras Novel as my first book. But what could be greater, Madras-enough and more novel than a murukku heist? A year ago, it was truly an occasion to cherish, to hold my first book in all its vibrant glory! The first copies of my picture book for children, Karukku Norukku, illustrated by Vibha Surya and published by Karadi Tales Company had just arrived. It's been a wonderful year of school sessions, library readings, children's literature festivals, and receiving so many videos and audio clips of children relishing this book, sometimes with murukkus in hand! Thank you, Karadi Tales Company and Shobha Viswanath, for ensuring my protagonist Guru had his murukkus, and ate them too! Buy it here - https://lnkd.in/guF9jj94

Hi! We are back with our weekend reviews! This weekend we are sharing the review of ‘House of Uncommons’ by Vishaka George and published by Karadi Tales. This book is part of the StORI series published by Karadi Tales Company in collaboration with People's Archive of Rural India (PARI). This is Krishan’s story of living in Snehagaon, a place that houses and nurtures children who are living with HIV. Krishnan initially feels overwhelmed, angry and extremely homesick at Snehagaon but gradually he makes friends, becomes self aware and also discovers his love for the running track! This is such a unique story, the author tells us the everyday lives of these brave teenagers who are living with a virus and are only able to view their life from the lens of discrimination. It's a baggage like no other, especially for such young individuals who are full of life and vibrancy. We highly recommend reading this book! Additionally, we wanted to share about the initiative which inspired this story, called the Children of Krishnagiri, please do see the link to their website to know more about them https://lnkd.in/gDiyWdVa. Lastly, we also wanted to share an article published by PARI on this which talks about the children living in Krishnagiri. https://lnkd.in/dz_6ESVp If you happen to try any of our activities at home or in school, please do tag us- it would bring us so much joy :) Our review along with activities is available on our website here: https://lnkd.in/gqUUaMyG This book is priced at INR 350 and you can access the link below to get a copy <https://lnkd.in/gumZhujs> Happy Reading Team Chhoti Udaan #childrensbooks #picturebooks #childrensbookillustration #reading #booksforchildren #booksworthreading #books #picturebook #readinglist #readmore #chhotiudaan #EducationForAll #InclusiveEducation hashtag #FutureOfEducation #EdTech #DigitalLearning #EarlyChildhoodEducation #LearningOutcomes #TeacherTraining #StudentSuccess #BlendedLearning #STEMEducation #EducationReform #21stCenturySkills #FLN #SocialEmotionalLearning #SDG4 #FoundationalLiteracyAndNumeracy #VidyaDaan #EdTechIndia #InclusiveEducation #SchoolEducationIndia #NEP2020 #TeacherEmpowerment
