Onion, tomato, potato prices to be fixed to benefit farmers: Shivraj Singh Chauhan Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Shivraj Singh Chauhan said that the government has prepared a policy under which a model price for essential crops like onion, tomato and potato will be fixed. Chauhan, who is on a campaign trail for the BJP in poll-bound Maharashtra, said that the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) will set the prices at 50 per cent higher rates than the cost the farmer bears. Also, the difference between the market rates and this fixed price will be credited to the farmers' accounts. He said the Centre and state governments will bear the cost of this difference in prices in equal parts.

Indian wheat prices hit record high due to strong demand, supply crunch Indian wheat prices have reached record highs due to strong demand, limited supply, and delayed government stock releases, industry sources report. Rising wheat costs could push retail inflation even higher, following October's 14-month inflation peak driven by vegetable prices, potentially halting any central bank interest rate cuts. Despite New Delhi's September limits on wheat stocks held by traders and millers, prices remain around 30,000 rupees per ton, well above the government support price. Traders warn that without immediate stock releases, prices may climb further, as fresh wheat won't hit markets until March, leaving bulk buyers squeezed. #khetiindia #agrinews #agriculture #agribusiness #wheat #ethanol #strongdemand

Paddy straw as animal feed is economical, beneficial Four global companies — Bayer, Shell, Mitsubishi, and GenZero (a Temasek arm) — are expanding their carbon credit program to support farmers in nine Indian states. The initiative, called "The Good Rice Alliance," helps farmers adopt climate-friendly practices like Alternate Wetting and Drying (AWD) and Direct Seeded Rice (DSR) to reduce methane emissions from rice farming. After a successful pilot involving 10,000 farmers across 25,000 hectares, the alliance plans to add 8,500 hectares and improve emissions measurement. The carbon credits generated will be sold, offering extra income to farmers while reducing greenhouse gases. #khetiindia #agrinews #agriculture #agribusiness #agri #paddy #strawburning

"India’s Coffee Exports Surge 45% Amid Global Supply Disruptions" India's coffee exports saw a significant rise despite supply challenges, with ₹6,467 crore in exports during the first five months of 2024-25, marking a 45% year-on-year increase. This growth aligns with a 16% increase in coffee exports in 2023-24, which crossed ₹10,000 crore. However, volume growth showed a modest 12.4% increase for April-August 2024 but dropped 5.8% for 2023-24. Rising global coffee prices have played a key role in this growth. Robusta and Arabica beans, which saw significant price increases, are in high demand, despite supply disruptions caused by droughts in Brazil and Vietnam, the world's top coffee producers. #khetiindia #coffee #brazil #india #agribusiness #agriculture #agriculture #agri Kheti India Kheti India
