Advancing Financial Inclusion: State-Level Workshop for BC Sakhi on individual loan lead generation MSC (MicroSave Consulting) successfully conducted a state-level workshop on individual loan lead generation and social security programs for BC Sakhis in Uttarakhand. We conducted the workshop on 29th November 2024 in collaboration with the Uttarakhand State Rural Livelihood Mission (USRLM) and Uttarakhand Gramin Bank (UGB). The General Manager of Uttarakhand Gramin Bank (UGB) and senior officials from the Uttarakhand State Rural Livelihood Mission (USRLM) chaired the workshop. It sought to build the capacity of BC Sakhis to generate and manage individual loan leads effectively and promote and facilitate access to social security programs. The individual loan lead generation initiative seeks to empower rural communities through improved access to financial services through BC sakhis Despite Uttarakhand’s challenging terrain and remote geography, BC Sakhis create a significant impact through the delivery of essential financial services and social security solutions to even the most inaccessible regions of the state. We plan to conduct similar workshops across regional levels in various districts of Uttarakhand to amplify the impact. We are dedicated to empower BC Sakhis with the tools and knowledge to facilitate doorstep digital services, foster financial empowerment, and build sustainable livelihoods for communities across Uttarakhand. Stay tuned for more updates on our upcoming workshops and initiatives as we continue to work toward a more inclusive financial ecosystem. #FinancialInclusion #BCSakhi #SocialSecurity #Empowerment #SustainableLivelihoods #MSC #USRLM #UttarakhandGraminBank #CapacityBuilding Shri Charanjit Singh (Additional Secretary, MoRD NRLM) Radhika Jha (Secretary RDD, Uttarakhand) Manuj Goyal (Additional Secretary, RDD, and CEO USRLM, Uttarakhand) Meera Mishra Saachi Bhalla Alkesh Wadhwani Pawan Bakhshi, Ph.D. Greta Bull Madhu Krishna ANJANI KUMAR SINGH Krishna Thacker Rahul Kumar Basava Purushottam Pradeep Kumar Pandey (ACEO USRLM) Graham A N Wright Manoj Sharma Abhishek Anand Dr. Ravi Kant Tri Vikram Sushil Kumar Singh Shailendra Pratap Singh Priyali Das Ministry of Rural Development,GoI Uttarakhand State Rural Livelihood Mission UTTARAKHAND (USRLM), RD Department, Government of Uttarakhand Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana - National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY - NRLM)

We at MSC are delighted to have welcomed you to our 25th-anniversary celebration in Jakarta, hosted by our Group Managing Director, Graham A.N. Wright, and Indonesia Country Director, Grace Retnowati. This gathering was significant as it brought us together to celebrate our collective achievements and impactful contributions to our communities. It also underscored our commitment to “international vision, local precision, for real impact.” With offices from Jakarta to Dhaka and Senegal, we are dedicated to learning from diverse experiences and translating them globally. In Indonesia, we have partnered with PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, renowned for having the best banking agent system among its counterparts in Asia, Africa, and Latin America. The valuable lessons we have learned from BRI have influenced other agent networks in India, Nigeria, and Ethiopia. Similarly, we gained lessons and important experience from India and its digital public infrastructure. Now we are beginning to work with Direktorat Jenderal Kependudukan dan Pencatatan Sipil (Dukcapil), the Ministry of National Development Planning (Bappenas), and other agencies to use these insights and optimize Indonesia’s digital public infrastructure. We thank our partners and allies, both mentioned and unnamed, for your steadfast support and collaboration over the years. Your partnership has been crucial in advancing our initiatives. We look forward to continuing our collaboration as we explore new opportunities and create transformative impacts in our communities. Together, let us continue to promote an enabling ecosystem for greater achievements. #MSC25Years #InternationalVisionLocalPrecisionForRealImpact

Microenterprises are the backbone of Bangladesh’s formal and informal sector. 9 million microenterprises employ 90% of the workforce and contribute 25% to GDP. These businesses span diverse fields, such as retail trade, transport and logistics, and social selling. They are increasingly turning to digital platforms, such as Truck Lagbe, Women and e-Commerce (WE), Chaldal, and ShopUp, to enhance their operations. Our latest two-part blog series dives into digital platforms’ impact on these microenterprises. They reveal that platformed MEs have seen improved profitability as their income increased from USD 592 to USD 993 despite higher operating costs. Yet, disparities persist—urban and male-led businesses typically benefit more, while women and rural microenterprises face additional challenges. Gender-based preferences also shape access to credit—56% of platformed women prefer formal banks, while unplatformed women entrepreneurs rely more heavily on informal credit. Our study engaged 400 microentrepreneurs across Bangladesh. It shed light on the need for tailored tools, training, and supportive policies to help microentrepreneurs achieve greater resilience and growth in Bangladesh’s digital economy.
