🎲 Learning Probability through Fun and Games! 📊 At MIT Vishwaprayag University, we believe in making learning both engaging and impactful! In our recent co-teaching session with Dr. Avinita Gautam for MBA students, we explored the fascinating world of Probability through real-life applications and hands-on activities. Instead of traditional lectures, students learned key concepts like sample space and outcomes by: 🃏 Shuffling cards 🎲 Rolling dice 🪙 Tossing coins The experiential approach transformed intricate concepts into engaging and intuitive learning experiences. Students immersed themselves in hands-on experimentation, actively analyzing probabilities and engaging with real-world scenarios. This method allowed them to explore and uncover the underlying logic of randomness, fostering a deeper understanding through discovery and critical thinking. They not only grasped theoretical ideas but also enjoyed the process of learning, making connections that enhanced their knowledge and appreciation of the subject matter. This session reflects MIT VPU's initiative to promote joyful and practical learning, ensuring concepts are taught and truly experienced. Witnessing curiosity, collaboration, and energy filling the classroom was a delight! Through our partnership with Agastya International Foundation, we are creating meaningful learning spaces for students, particularly those from remote and underserved areas, to engage with STEM education and design thinking in Solapur. This initiative helps us bridge the educational gap by providing these students with the tools and opportunities they need to succeed. Recently, we welcomed delegates from the Aalborg UNESCO PBL Centre to the Innovation Hub at MIT Vishwaprayag University. Their visit reinforced the transformative power of collaboration in education. Agastya International Foundation 's innovation hub is hosted on our campus MIT Vishwaprayag University . This innovation hub engages school children in STEM education and Design Thinking through its innovative pedagogies. This facility is also used train the school teachers. It is offering opportunities for our students and faculty members to engage with community around. Our thanks to our colleagues from Aalborg UNESCO PBL Centre for their keen interest and enthusiasm to visit the innovation hub. Thank you Swati and Joshi for introducing us to the STEM PBL School project - a university community engagement initiative in collaboration with a local NGO. Highly inspired by their local wisdom of using low-cost solutions to support children from rural areas to learn STEM - the innovation lab on the university campus provide facilities for students from remote areas to gather together here in a series of 16 sessions within 6 months to work on team based projects solving some local problems. Meanwhile, their mobile labs also support teachers to travel around to provide these series of sessions for remote school students to access STEM learning. Highly inspiring for their model of combining ‘bringing in’ and ‘going out’ activities. Gopalkrishna Joshi Euan Lindsay Henrik Worm Routhe

Problem-Based Learning (PBL) approach for PSC Course! As part of my Problem-Solving Using Computing (PSC) course, I conducted a #CaseBasedLearning (CBL) activity inspired by the #ProblemBasedLearning (PBL) approach, and it turned out to be one of the most rewarding teaching experiences! In this activity, students were presented with a #RealWorldComputingProblems and were tasked to: 1️. Analyze the problem. 2️. Collaboratively brainstorm and propose practical solutions. 3️. Use their foundational knowledge to justify their approaches. The students took ownership of their learning by engaging deeply with the case, debating ideas, and working together to arrive at solutions. It was incredible to see them applying #CriticalThinking and #ProblemSolvingSkills, which are at the heart of the #PBL approach. This activity not only fostered collaboration but also encouraged self-directed learning, as students actively sought out resources and shared insights with their peers. Moments like these remind me of the joy of #TeachingLearningProcess(TLP)—when students move beyond passive learning and take charge of their educational journey. Looking forward to implementing more #PBL-inspired methods in my courses to make learning even more impactful! #ProblemBasedLearning #Teaching #CaseBasedLearning #ActiveLearning #StudentEngagement #ProblemSolvingSkills #EducationInnovation #MITVishwaprayagUniversity #ComputerScienceEngineering
