Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s words today during #ParikshaPeCharcha2025, reaffirm our mission at MSDE—to make skills aspirational and integral to India’s growth story. We have been working relentlessly to bridge the gap between education and skills through industry-recognized courses, a robust skilling and aligned credit framework, and world-class training infrastructure. The introduction of convocation ceremonies for our skilled professionals is a testament to this commitment—honoring skill excellence with the same prestige as academic achievements. But true transformation happens when society recognizes skills as an equal pillar of progress alongside formal education. This shift is already underway. A skilled workforce is not just an economic necessity—it is the foundation of our ambition for a Viksit Bharat. By breaking free from outdated mindsets that once undervalued vocational expertise, we are placing India on the path to global leadership, where talent, innovation, and skills drive our nation forward. #SkillIndia #ViksitBharat #EducationAndSkills #FutureOfWork Narendra Modi

It was heartening to present the tenets of the National Credit Framework (NCrF) and the roadmap for its implementation in school education before 55 State/District Nodal Officers representing 29 States/UTs during a workshop at the India Habitat Centre. The workshop was organized by the National Centre for School Leadership (NCSL), established at the National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA), New Delhi, and funded by Samagra Shiksha, a Centrally Sponsored Scheme under the Ministry of Education, Government of India. As we move towards a more flexible and inclusive education system, operationalising NCrF across school education will play a pivotal role in enabling seamless credit accumulation, mobility, and recognition of learning across general and vocational streams. Additionally, the recognition of School Boards as Awarding Bodies by NCVET will further strengthen the integration of vocational education with general education while ensuring a more structured and streamlined operationalization of NCrF. The engagement and insights from the nodal officers reaffirm the importance of capacity-building and collaborative efforts in driving this transformative initiative forward. Looking forward to continued dialogues and collective action in strengthening India’s education and skilling ecosystem! I am happy that the IASC SSC, which is one of the recognised Awarding Bodies of NCVET has launched today, the National Youth Day, five of its Micro-credentials for the students of Sharda University by signing an MOU. These MCs, which were recently got approved by the NSQC in the NCVET, will offer the students an opportunity to acquire additional domain-knowledge and skilling in these five areas while undergoing their current courses. This will make them more industry-ready and increase their employability and entrepreneurship. Hope this will set an example for other SSCs and Universities to take such initiatives! This is the need of hour. It was also my previlage to deliver the Keynote address on the role being played by the NCVET, as a regulator of the VETS ecosystem, to bridge the skill gap of the Indian youth at School Education, Higher Education and Technical Education level, to make them Industry-ready and readily employable. Had a thought-provoking conversation with BW Businessworld on the critical need to align education with skilling and foster stronger industry collaborations. This synergy is essential to prepare India’s youth for the demands of an evolving global economy and ensure a seamless transition from learning to earning. We discussed how constant modernization of skilling curricula is necessary to keep pace with emerging technologies and market trends. There is also an urgent need to raise awareness about opportunities in sectors like the gig economy, green jobs, and the digital domain. Skilling must be seen not just as a necessity but as an aspirational pursuit—one that young Indians and their families take pride in. At the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, our efforts remain focused on addressing gaps in the education system and creating a future-ready workforce. Through the Skill India Mission, we aim to inspire a culture of lifelong learning while building a workforce that is ready to lead, innovate, and contribute meaningfully to the nation’s growth.
