Crafted from the coarse, strong stems of the jute plant, jute rugs are a stylish, eco-friendly decor option. When woven traditionally, jute can be dyed to create elegant patterns and designs, the natural fibre producing a rustic aura suitable for both indoor and outdoor decor statements. The true beauty of jute, however, is that it is sustainable. Harvested from plant sources, these fibres are renewable, ensuring that each jute rug we produce contributes to a healthier planet. Stuck in your search for rugs for a simple home decor update? Choose jute for a rug decor statement that’s as kind to the Earth as it is to your home. #juterugs #jute #obeetee

From the heart of the Mirzapur-Bhadohi belt in the late 90s, artisans crafted the beautiful Lychee carpet, a design that soon captured the world. Its simple motif, reminiscent of the lychee fruit, carries deep significance, drawing from the Persian Boteh with its floral spray and cypress tree, a symbol of life and eternity. Part of Obeetee's Nizam collection, this carpet boasts 145 knots per square inch of premium New Zealand wool. Its perfect symmetry and intricate beauty mean three weavers working eight hours a day can only complete 2 inches. This timeless design brought livelihoods to many and became a cherished piece in homes around the globe.

The beauty of handcrafted design starts with perfecting the building blocks, weaving together threads of carefully dyed yarn to form patterns and motifs that become the living tapestry of the carpet. At Obeetee, we’re committed to preserving traditional hand-weaving techniques, and that commitment also puts us in a position to support the art of slow luxury. In a world where fast production and instant gratification are dominant, we recognize that each carpet carries its character. The process of handcrafting ensures that no two pieces are identical - minor flaws and discrepancies in colour and design are birthmarks, symbols of the love, passion, and care that go into the long hours spent at the loom. It’s always tempting to do things fast, producing many rather than a few, but the time taken to craft a bespoke, beautiful carpet would pass whether we produced the carpet or not - so why not spend it perfecting an increasingly rare craft?

Carpets have existed for centuries - they are practical and functional, and they are beautiful. When we design a carpet, we’re thinking about how to fit every home’s needs, providing the finishing touch to a design narrative and creating an avenue through which each homeowner can make a statement about their personality and their taste in art, design, and decor. So, we often ask ourselves, why limit our creativity to the carpet as floor furnishing? At Obeetee, we’ve decided to push the boundaries with the latest trend in decor - carpets as wall art. This New Year, as you look for new ways to express yourself through home decor, consider how you can challenge the ordinary, and you will open the door to new forms of artistic expression, even if it takes putting a carpet up instead of a painting.
