Building for Bharat is a challenge like no other—its vast diversity in ethnicity, consumption habits, financial standing, and cultural contexts make creating scalable solutions uniquely complex. Yet, this diversity is precisely what makes Bharat a fertile ground for innovative, human-centred design. When participating in this interesting event “Building for Bharat” hosted by ProdWrks, I had the fortune to elaborate on how to approach problem-solving in healthcare, especially in the chronic/NCD space, the strategy of “universal problems, localized solutions” offers a robust framework. Sharing a top-down view here: Universal problems require localized solutions. Top-Down Problem Identification: Chronic health issues like diabetes, cancer, and musculoskeletal disorders impact all demographics, transcending income or location. At a high level, the medical management strategy could share similar key principles. Bottom-up solutions start with personalizing core medical solutions. 1. Microsegmentation is key for sharp focus: Imagine targeting “upper-middle-class diabetes patients in Bangalore.” While the core problem (diabetes management) is the same, the nuances of lifestyle, food preferences, language, and habits differ. Microsegmentation ensures the solution is hyper-relevant to this group. 2. Stage of Disease Adds Nuance: People react differently based on the stage of their illness—whether early or advanced. For instance, early-stage patients may need a lot more push to bring in habit changes to reverse the disease while advanced-stage patients might prioritize immediate symptom relief and arrest further progression. 3. Communication Matters: Personalization also comes in how solutions and benefits are communicated—culturally appropriate communication, tailored engagement strategies, and channels of dissemination. India exemplifies unity in diversity—unified in its challenges but diverse in its needs. The way forward is to tackle universal problems by employing precise solutions delivered to resonate locally. Then the question is, how do you expand the solution to other microsegments? I’ll talk about that very soon (but in all honesty, the answer is already covered in the post, can you crack it?)

Ever wondered how a simple YouTube channel teaching tech in Tamil could transform into a ₹150 crore edtech company backed by HCL Enterprise? Guvi, founded by Arun Prakash M, Balamurugan SP GUVI, and the late Mrs. Sridevi Arun Prakash is a game-changer in India’s edtech space, empowering over 30 lakh learners to learn tech in their own native languages through interactive courses and gamified coding platforms like Codekata and Webkata. 👉 Read the full story here: https://lnkd.in/g33gg2zH Key Insights from the Story👇 🌍 Guvi’s mission? Teaching tech in native Indian languages to make learning accessible to millions and bridge the Industry-Academia gap. 🐛Start Small, Scale Smart: Arun began with simple YouTube videos in Tamil, which gained international traction before going all tech. His advice? "Validate your idea with small, manual solutions before building a tech platform." 👥Closed Launch Strategy: Inspired by Facebook’s early days, Guvi scaled gradually, going from one university to another before opening to the public, to efficiently manage server capacity and iteratively work on feedback. 👨💻Codekata's Impact: Their flagship platform Codekata focuses on practical coding challenges, helping students tackle real-world problems and boosting placement success rates. 🏅Gamification for Engagement: Introducing Geek Coins and leaderboards boosted user participation and created a fun, competitive learning environment. 🎮Turning a Bug into a Feature: A leaderboard glitch during live sessions made Guvi include a competitive feature for students across institutions! 💡High Touch vs. Low Touch: Arun advises that In high-touch environments like B2B training, UI/UX is secondary to human interaction. But in low-touch, self-service products, it becomes a deal-breaker. Want to know how YOU can turn content into a scalable business like Guvi? Read the story today in ProdWrks.
