Through Project Abhay, behavioral transformation was at the heart of our approach to road safety. Workshops were engaging truck drivers in critical discussions on road ethics, legal compliance, and well-being, ensuring they had the knowledge to navigate highways responsibly while prioritizing their health. But lasting impact goes beyond a single intervention. To enable continuous learning, we introduced tools like the Saarthi Sathi Handbook and driver cabin posters, ensuring key road safety and wellness messages remained within reach, long after the workshops ended. By investing in awareness, education, and habit formation, Project Abhay was reshaping the driving culture in India—one driver at a time. Because when drivers thrive, our roads, economy, and society thrive with them. A Call for More Initiatives Like Project Abhay 🚛 Shri Nitin Gadkari emphasized the need for more initiatives like Project Abhay to meet the growing demands of India’s logistics and transportation industry. With challenges like driver shortages, road safety risks, and lack of social security, addressing the well-being of truck drivers is essential for strengthening the sector. Project Abhay has taken a crucial step, but there’s still a long road ahead. Collaboration, innovation, and policy support will be key to driving lasting change. Let’s work together to build a safer, more efficient future for India’s transport industry. #ProjectAbhay #RoadSafety #DrivingImpact #LogisticsTransformation Ministry of Road Transport & Highways - India Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi Foresight Foundation

Clear Vision for Safer Roads 👓🚛 During the pilot phase of Project Abhay, 26,158 truck drivers received corrective eyewear, ensuring safer journeys for them and everyone on the road. With over 50% of tested drivers needing vision correction, this initiative highlights the critical link between eye health and road safety. Every clear sightline is a step toward fewer accidents and better driver well-being. Together, we’re driving impact. #ProjectAbhay #RoadSafety #DriverWelfare Ministry of Road Transport & Highways - India Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi Foresight Foundation

Strengthening Social Security for India’s Truck Drivers 🚛 Before Project Abhay, only 51.7% of truck drivers had access to social security. Through dedicated efforts, we’ve raised this to 86.2%, ensuring better financial and healthcare protection for over 50,000 drivers in our pilot phase. From e-Shram registrations to Ayushman Bharat & insurance schemes, these linkages provide critical support for drivers and their families. A secure future for them means a stronger foundation for our economy. We’re committed to expanding this impact. Together, we drive change. #ProjectAbhay #SocialSecurity #DriverWelfare Ministry of Road Transport & Highways - India Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi Foresight Foundation

Technology isn’t just an enabler; it’s a game-changer in building a safer, healthier future for India’s trucking community. #ProjectAbhay #DigitalInnovation #RoadSafety Ministry of Road Transport & Highways - India Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi Foresight Foundation

Bridging the Social Security Gap for Truck Drivers 🚛 Before Project Abhay’s intervention, 48.3% of drivers had no social security coverage, and 68.6% were uninsured, leaving them and their families vulnerable in times of crisis. Through dedicated efforts, we have facilitated: ✅ 15,447 drivers registered on e-Shram ✅ 8,444 drivers enrolled in Ayushman Bharat ✅ 3,706 drivers secured under Abhay Suraksha Bima Yojana ✅ 390 drivers covered under other insurance schemes With over ₹502 crore in cumulative coverage, 62,700+ family members now have access to essential health and life insurance—ensuring financial security and resilience for India’s trucking community. This is more than just numbers; it’s protection, dignity, and peace of mind for those who keep India moving. #ProjectAbhay #SocialSecurity #HealthForAll #DriverWelfare Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi Ministry of Road Transport & Highways - India Foresight Foundation

Driving Under Pressure: Addressing Mental Health Among Truck Drivers 🚛 33.9% of truck drivers screened during Project Abhay’s health camps reported moderate stress, while 2.9% faced high stress levels—highlighting the urgent need for mental health support in the transport sector. Long hours, isolation, and high-risk working conditions take a toll, affecting both driver well-being and road safety. To address this, dedicated mental health counseling desks were set up at our camps, providing guidance and connecting drivers to resources like Tele-MANAS for ongoing support. Mental health is just as critical as physical health. Let’s drive change where it matters. 🚛💙 #ProjectAbhay #MentalHealthMatters #RoadSafety #DriverWellness Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi Ministry of Road Transport & Highways - India Foresight Foundation

🩺 57.4% of truck drivers tested during Project Abhay’s health camps had elevated blood pressure levels—a silent but serious risk for heart disease and fatigue-related accidents. Through timely screenings, personalized health guidance, and necessary medical support, we are proactively addressing these risks to protect both drivers and everyone on the road. A simple check-up can make a life-changing difference. Healthier drivers, safer highways. 🚛 #ProjectAbhay #DrivingImpact #HealthAndSafety Ministry of Road Transport & Highways - India Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi Foresight Foundation

India: The Diabetes Capital of the World—Truck Drivers at Risk 🔍 18.4% of truck drivers screened at Project Abhay’s health camps had borderline or high blood sugar levels, signaling a heightened risk of diabetes—a disease that can lead to fatigue, vision loss, and long-term health complications if left unchecked. For truck drivers, undiagnosed diabetes isn’t just a health issue—it’s a road safety concern. Irregular schedules, lack of access to healthy food, and high stress levels make them especially vulnerable. Through Project Abhay, we are ensuring early detection, lifestyle counseling, and urgent medical referrals, giving drivers the tools to manage their health before it’s too late. Healthier drivers mean safer roads. Let’s take action where it matters. 🚛 #ProjectAbhay #HealthForAll #SaferHighways #DrivingChange Ministry of Road Transport & Highways - India Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi Foresight Foundation

Building a Culture of Road Safety from a Young Age 🚦 Project Abhay recently hosted a Road Safety Camp in Belagavi at the NHIT Toll Plaza, engaging school students in interactive sessions on responsible road behavior. Through demonstrations, discussions, and activities, we aimed to instill awareness and safety consciousness in the next generation. Road safety is not just about rules—it’s about shaping mindsets early. By educating young minds today, we are building safer roads for tomorrow. A big thank you to our partners and supporters for making this initiative impactful! 🚸🚧 #ProjectAbhay #RoadSafety #FutureReady #DrivingImpact #NHIT Ministry of Road Transport & Highways - India Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi Foresight Foundation
