As we approach the US election, UK businesses and recruitment professionals are watching closely. Why? The ripple effects of US political outcomes reach beyond American borders, influencing global markets, trade relations, regulatory policies, and ultimately—job opportunities. Here’s what recruiters need to consider: 1. Economic Policy and Global Market Stability - US elections influence global markets, often impacting tech, finance, healthcare, and energy. A pro-business candidate win drives US market growth, benefiting UK companies with American investments or partnerships. In the UK this can mean increased demand for roles in sectors tied to US investment, particularly in finance, tech, and green energy. 2. Trade and Investment Relations - Trade policies are reshaped post-election. Stronger US-UK trade ties can boost confidence in UK businesses, especially in manufacturing, tech, and pharma. Recruiters may see more demand for roles in global expansion and trade, including logistics, compliance, and legal advisory roles. 3. Regulatory Shifts and the Talent Market - US regulatory changes in data privacy, environmental policy, and tech regulation set trends globally. UK companies may follow suit to remain competitive in the US market. This drives demand for skills in compliance, cybersecurity, environmental consultancy, and ESG-related roles as companies align with new standards. 4. Remote Work and Global Talent Sourcing - As remote work trends continue, US companies hire from a global talent pool. Depending on the election’s outcome, US companies may double down on offshoring and remote hires or favor domestic workers. For UK recruiters, this creates opportunities to place UK talent in US roles being mindful of any tightening US work visa policies. 5. Exchange Rates and Competitive Salaries - Currency fluctuations often follow US elections. A stronger dollar could make UK talent more attractive and it could also push UK companies to increase salaries to retain talent. Leading UK recruiters to navigate increased salary and benefits packages. 6. Leadership and Innovation - Different election outcomes may priotitise sectors, such as green energy, defence, or health tech. A US push in green energy could draw a similar push in the UK. Recruiters may need to adapt to growing demands for renewable energy engineers, AI specialists, and digital health professionals, as sectors pivot to align with US trends. What Should UK Recruiters Do? Stay Informed: Track policy and economic trends and understand their potential impact on UK businesses. Adapt Strategies: Be prepared for shifting demand across sectors. Specialise in growth areas, like tech and green energy, can be a powerful differentiator. Embrace Flexibility: Remain agile in candidate sourcing, as demand for international talent rises, and be ready to support clients in creating competitive compensation packages. The US election reminds us that recruitment is global and agility is key 🌎

UK Recruitment Market Insights: The Opportunities For recruitment companies, the UK market still has considerable potential, especially in high-growth sectors that need skilled talent. Now’s the time to refine your strategy and focus on the areas with the highest demand. Here’s where recruitment firms should channel their energy: 1. Tech & Digital Roles: Tech talent remains one of the hottest commodities. With demand soaring in software development, cybersecurity, and data analysis, recruitment businesses should focus their tech specialisation to match companies with the skilled candidates they need. 2. Green Energy & Sustainability: With increasing investment in sustainable energy, there’s rapid growth in renewable energy, environmental consulting, and sustainable construction. Building a candidate pipeline here will put you ahead as companies strive to rapidly meet environmental targets. 3. Healthcare & Life Sciences: From clinical roles to research positions, healthcare and life sciences continue to expand. Specialist recruitment services in healthcare staffing can provide value in a field where expertise is critical. 4. Financial Services & Fintech: Fintech has reshaped traditional finance. Focus on sourcing tech-savvy professionals skilled in digital banking, blockchain, and data analytics—these candidates are invaluable to companies navigating a constantly changing landscape. 5. Logistics & E-commerce: With e-commerce still booming, the need for logistics, supply chain management, and warehousing roles is at an all-time high. Recruitment businesses can play a key role by targeting candidates with operational and logistics expertise. Our advice: 1. Deepen industry specialisation: Focus on high-growth sectors to become a go-to resource. 2. Expand your candidate networks: Invest in expanding candidate pools, including passive candidates in high-demand fields. 3. Offer upskilling partnerships: Consider partnerships for candidate upskilling programs to meet the rising need for specialist skills. One of our Founders Andrew Bell – CEO of Hanami International was diagnosed with ADHD over a decade ago – at almost exactly the same time we invested in him and his business partner, Matt Harrison to establish their recruitment business. Here Andy and our Chairman James Caan CBE discuss Neurodiversity within business and recruitment. What is it? How many people does it affect? What can we learn going forward?

    Partner at Hanami International

I’m pleased to announce the launch of No Two Brains (Are the Same)! 🚀 I've been wanting to do this podcast for a while and have finally got around to doing it, sharing my experience of being a neurodiverse business owner.   Over 10 years ago I was diagnosed with ADHD, which was around the same time James Caan CBE invested in myself and my business partner Matt Harrison to set up Hanami International. I’ve often been hesitant to share the fact I suffer with ADHD, sometimes for fear of being judged, and I’m sure many others who have neurodiverse conditions have often felt the same, especially in more senior positions. This led me to want to talk more openly about it, which in turn formed the idea of producing a podcast and asking James Caan CBE what it was like to work with a neurodiverse CEO.   In the podcast we cover what neurodiversity is? How many people does it affect? And what can we learn about working with people who are neurodiverse?   Feel free to take a listen on Spotify: https://lnkd.in/eKUY6UuU Or Amazon: https://lnkd.in/eSucrFHt I'm interested to hear your thoughts and experiences of neurodiversity in the workplace. Together, I’d like to challenge traditional thinking and explore how we can better support neurodiverse talent. #Neurodiversity #Leadership #InclusiveWorkplaces #HanamiInternational
