Semiconductor Fabless Accelerator Lab (SFAL), a K-Tech CoE for Fabless, is an initiative towards developing and enhancing the fabless ecosystem in India. Focus of SFAL is around enabling fabless startups, across India and encourage creation and development of Products/IPs from India. It is an initiative funded by the Department of Electronics, IT, Bt and S&T of Govt. of Karnataka through the Karnataka Innovation Technology Society (KITS) in collaboration with India Electronics and Semiconductor Association (IESA) to enhance the growth of Indian electronics ecosystem while developing and creating more electronics products manufacturing facilities from India.

It was great to host GF India TeknIka, GF India’s first technical conference for fabless startups, local OEMs, academia, customers and global and local partners, at our Bangalore office last week. As the largest global, pure play foundry, GF can contribute towards building the local semiconductor ecosystem. Under the leadership of GF India’s VP and India Country Head, #Jitendra Chaddah (JC), we were able to bring together key industry stakeholders – OEMs, fabless startups, academia, design houses and policy makers to work together to strengthen the Indian semiconductor landscape. The highlight of TeknIKa was the announcement of GF ‘India Foundry Program’ that provides support to fabless companies, focusing on three key deliverables: a) access to specific PDKs/ MPWs and IPs b) tech support from local GF engineers 3) ecosystem connect through conferences like TeknIka and partnerships with customers, academia and research organizations.
