Championing Women's Mental Health in Sports with Simply Smiles At Simply Sport, we believe that women’s health deserves dedicated focus and action. Female athletes in India face unique mental challenges that often go unaddressed—pressures from societal stigma, balancing traditional gender roles, financial challenges, and the relentless pursuit of peak performance all take a toll on their physical and mental well-being. Ignoring their mental needs not only limits their potential but also perpetuates a system that overlooks the importance of gender-specific support in sports. Why is this important? The numbers tell a compelling story, research suggests that: - 38% of women athletes face mental health challenges, with issues like anxiety and depression being most prevalent. - An overwhelming 70% of women athletes struggle with eating disorders, significantly impacting their health and performance. - Studies show that female athletes are 1.5 to 3 times more likely to experience mental health challenges than their male counterparts. - 42% of women athletes report a lack of access to mental health resources tailored to their needs. - Nearly 30% of female athletes drop out of competitive sports before the age of 20, often citing mental health struggles and societal pressures as reasons. These figures point to a systemic gap that demands immediate action. To address this critical need, we’re proud to introduce Simply Smiles for Women. This initiative is part of our commitment to creating a supportive environment for female athletes. We’d like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the Royal Rajasthan Foundation and Rajasthan Royals for trusting us with this opportunity. As it was our first time in Rajasthan, we deeply appreciate their support in helping us empower 83 female athletes in our inaugural program. We couldn’t have asked for a better partner to launch this initiative. At Simply Smiles, we envision a world where female athletes are empowered to excel without compromising their health. Because every smile tells a story, and it’s time for women athletes to own theirs with pride and confidence. #Simplysportfoundation #RajasthanRoyalsFoundation #Simplysmiles
