Still, they have more than 1 Million subscribers and are actively adding about 250,000 subscribers every single month. Here are four reasons why STAGE OTT is set to become a leader in the entertainment market for Bharat. 1/ $50 𝐁𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐭 In an interview with SeedToScale, Vinay Singhal explained how they were doing market research to raise their Series B round. - 𝑻𝒐𝒕𝒂𝒍 𝒉𝒐𝒖𝒔𝒆𝒉𝒐𝒍𝒅𝒔 𝒊𝒏 𝑰𝒏𝒅𝒊𝒂 -> 320 Million - 𝑨𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒂𝒈𝒆 𝒔𝒑𝒆𝒏𝒅 𝒐𝒏 𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒕𝒂𝒊𝒏𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕 -> $188 - 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐩𝐡𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐭 -> 90% They multiplied all of this and it showed them a $50 Billion industry hidden in plain sight. A huge market size with tailwinds like ‘𝘴𝘮𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘱𝘩𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘨𝘳𝘰𝘸𝘵𝘩’ and ‘𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘯𝘦𝘵 𝘢𝘤𝘤𝘦𝘴𝘴’ is the first proof that STAGE OTT can become a huge business if they play their cards right! 2/ 𝐁𝐮𝐭 𝐁𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐭 = 𝐋𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐜𝐞? Initially when the founders said ‘𝘉𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘢𝘵’, everyone thought it meant people like watchmen and cab drivers, who would not have the ability to pay. But for Vinay and his team, Bharat meant paying attention to the diversity of India & creating content for it. Even though they only produce content in dialects like Haryanvi, 60% of their user base is from Urban locations. Delhi NCR holds a major chunk of their subscribers followed by Jaipur. Vinay and his team understood that cultural identity has nothing to do with the socioeconomic class of a person. They doubled down on this insight. 3/ 𝐎𝐓𝐓 𝐢𝐬 𝐚 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐲 𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐲 Vinay speaks Haryanvi & he understood that there are more folks like him who can pay for Haryanvi content. However, the willingness to pay did not exist because there was no content in Haryanvi. So Vinay & his team figured out a way to create feature films in Haryanvi in extremely low budgets (20 - 25 lakhs maximum). Once they started building their inventory of films, they started adding subscribers which is now at 1.2 Million. The lack of regional content (supply) was lacking and by filling it, they saw demand catch up. 4/ 45+ 𝐎𝐓𝐓𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐚 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧! Unlike national and international OTTs, regional OTT platforms were digital layers built over an existing industry. They would build an OTT platform & add films that already existed to it. Vinay & his team instead went the opposite way & focused on building an OTT where there is no industry to start with. For example, 100% of their content in Haryanvi is created & owned by STAGE. They are writing the playbook for creating the entertainment industry for the 20,000+ dialects in India.
