#WorldBuildingOfTheWeek - Studio Saar, an architecture practice with office in England and India, recently completed a new learning and cultural center in Udaipur, Rajasthan for Dharohar, a nonprofit organization working with schools and volunteers to provide extra-curricular activities in the area. Third Space, “The Haveli of Creativity, Curiosity and Community,” is a learning and discovery centre for all ages, that offers world-class facilities for educational programs, informal learning, socializing and performing arts. Intended as a “third space” — a place without boundaries beyond home or school — local children and people of all ages are encouraged to encounter and explore diverse, hands-on activities to better understand more about the world and their place within it. The new center can host up to 2,000 visitors a day, offering a broad range of activities and workshops, providing much-needed resources to the people of Udaipur. The Davidson Prize 2024 Awards Ceremony was held at one of our recently completed workspace interiors for Impact Hub London in collaboration with Knowledge Quarter & British Land! Our design for the event space and bar is functional, minimal, and adaptable. Featuring slatted oak finishes and wall storage, with operable walls for smaller groups, the space is a blank canvas. It truly comes to life with people, ideas, innovation, and collaboration, so it was an honour to see the space come alive with the Davidson Prize Awards Ceremony. Congratulations to all the nominees this year, and to the winners of The Davidson Prize 2024: Apartment Store by Studio Saar, Simon Brown, Paul Clark, Ben Stephenson, and Ben Mann. This team has also been awarded the People's Choice Prize, winning over a quarter of the public votes. Third Space by Studio Saar is an exciting new science and learning centre in Udaipur, North India, comprising galleries, theatres and making and performance spaces. Our strong collaborative relationship with Studio Saar allowed us to shape the brief together, and explore the creative possibilities and innovations we could bring to the project.
