At Volvo Cars, our values are our beliefs, enabling our purpose and guiding our company’s actions. In purview of one of the important values of Diversity & Inclusion - we at the India Tech Hub organized a conclave we named as ‘Women in Tech’ on 6th November 2024. The occasion was graced with various speakers from different organizations - and we also had the pleasure of collaborating with the Swedish Chamber of Commerce India. Two topics were the highlights of the dialogue! ‘Are Corporates Gender biased?’ – a burning topic, which was animatedly discussed with speakers Aruna Newton, Global Head D & I, Infosys Technologies and Sara Larsson Head of Swedish Chamber of Commerce, India, moderated by Jonas Olsson, Head of Volvo Cars India Tech Hub. The insights and strong experience of the panelists through storytelling and experience sharing, brought a holistic viewpoint about gender diversity and cultural adaptations from both Sweden and India perspective. A spellbinding session indeed! Next on the agenda was ‘Embedded AI/ML in automotive industry – A boon or a bane?’, where speakers Ranu Chakravarty, Delivery Partner, Tata Technologies and Swathi Raghunath, Senior Director, Capgemini Consulting, moderated by Prashanth Kumar, Head of Commercial Digital India, enlightened the audience with the real challenges and opportunities around recent technologies with an aspect of diversity. We also had a session named as ‘Volvo Inhouse Women’ – where we touched on the achievements and learnings of our own Volvo Women. This was graced by Keerthi T K, Head of our Bangalore manufacturing facility, with her journey as the first female plant head, followed by Aarti Mansukhani, Head of People Experience Commercial India & Prativa Panigrahi, Engineering Manager, sharing their experience with and learnings from participating in the Swedish Chamber of Commerce gender sensitization program - Kraftsamla. In all this, not to forget the traditions we imbibe within us, we started with a grand welcome featuring an inauguration’ & lighting of the diya by Jonas Olsson, along with the guest female speakers. Followed by this was a message of motivation by Jyoti Malhotra, Managing Director, Volvo Auto India Pvt Ltd, who shared a few insights on how D&I is important from a Volvo Cars perspective. The whole event was radiating with knowledge, experience sharing and learnings to take away by the entire audience. The event was made possible thanks to a strong collaboration initiated by the Women Community of Practice at the India Tech Hub, spearheaded by Sushma Raghava, Vendor Relationship Manager, leading the hard-working team behind the event, with the aim to establish a strong bond between industry leaders, our strategic partners and the Swedish Chamber of Commerce in India and Volvo Car India.
