From Passion to Purpose Growing up in Warrington, Pauline Yould held two passions close to her heart—a love for learning and a deep affinity for books. “I was a massive bookworm,” she recalls with a warm smile, her eyes lighting up as she remembers those childhood trips to the local library. Even today, she cherishes the feeling of turning pages, favoring the warmth of paper books over e-readers. But while books fed her curiosity, life had its own remarkable story to unfold for Pauline. Pauline’s professional journey with Tata Chemicals began nearly 26 years ago in HR, where she steadily grew, guided by her genuine passion for people and an enduring thirst for knowledge. “I didn’t have the chance to pursue formal studies after school, but that only deepened my resolve to further my education later in life,” she says. Earning qualifications in Social Sciences and Psychology and acquiring multiple certifications, she built a strong foundation for a career focused on supporting and empowering others. At Tata Chemicals, Pauline didn’t just find a place to work—she found a home and even met her life partner, Bob, a trusted colleague over the years. “Being part of Tata Chemicals is more than a job; it’s a family,” she says warmly. This sense of belonging and the strength of the company’s culture are what have kept her anchored for over two decades. In her current role as Communications Manager, Pauline has discovered new ways to create meaningful impact. “Good communication is at the heart of everything,” she believes. She feels most fulfilled when helping forge meaningful partnerships with local charities and nurturing a deeper connection between the company and the community. Outside work, Pauline’s dedication to her community remains steadfast. She serves as a director at a local community café, a space that brings together people of all ages and backgrounds. Her evenings are often spent running on a treadmill, swimming in warm water, or relaxing with a good book. When asked what advice she would give her younger self, Pauline pauses thoughtfully before saying, “Believe in yourself. Confidence is key, and I’ve been fortunate to have mentors here who have shown me my worth.” Her corporate journey, woven with growth, resilience, and a profound sense of belonging, is a testament to the word that resonates most with her experience: Amazing. • Meet Arpita Patil: Behind a quiet demeanour lies a heart full of ambition and perseverance. When Arpita Patil first set foot into the corporate world, her journey was far from conventional. With a background in recruitment consultancy, she hadn’t even been invited to interview at Tata Chemicals. “I tagged along with friends who had interviews scheduled, just hoping to gain insight,” she recalls. Yet, that spur-of-the-moment decision became a turning point, opening the door to an unexpected journey that would shape her career and life. What began as a temporary position soon grew into a lasting commitment, marking the start of a journey that has now spanned 15 years. For Arpita, work has been more than just a place to build a career. Coming from a close-knit family and being an only child, Arpita grew up reserved – her quiet demeanour often misunderstood as unapproachable. But the Tata Chemicals work culture changed that over time. Surrounded by mentors and friends who genuinely cared, Arpita began to open up, transforming from a quiet newcomer into a valued and integral part of the team. “It’s the people here – their warmth and willingness to connect – that helped me open up and grow,” she reflects. Even to this day, Arpita finds comfort in her own company. Her ideal weekend is a quiet one – no alarm clocks, a peaceful chai, and sometimes a solo movie. “It’s liberating to just be with yourself,” she says with a smile. But she’s also a late-blooming adventurer, with her trip to Ladakh standing out as a personal milestone. There, in the heart of Dras, she and her friends found themselves navigating the night by car headlights, a thrilling experience that left a lasting impact. “We were hiking with a landslide nearby – terrifying but unforgettable!” she laughs, reflecting on the joy she’s found in exploring life’s unexpected journeys. As Arpita looks to the future, she’s inspired to continue challenging herself, both in her career and personal life. Through all her years, from accidental interviews to pandemic projects, her story is marked by unexpected twists, resilience, and a journey of self-discovery. And for her, that’s real success – being part of something bigger, and finding herself along the way. Join us in celebrating the #WomenOfTataChemicals as we uncover their stories, each woman thriving #InHerElement in her own unique way!
