A bunch of people have written about the rather epic Teach For India TFI15 weekend. I wanted to add just one take on it - and one goofy pic to bring out a smile or an eye-roll on Friday afternoon. The entire TFI15 weekend was one of the most giving spaces I've ever experienced. The whole team was focused on only one thing - how best to serve the 2000-odd alums and friends there. That's it. The sessions and workshops, the community spaces and the musical, the gifts and the interactions - just everything was an act of seva. Shaheen Mistri - thank you for role-modelling this. And to the entire team - just wow! Deep gratitude goes out from Saurabh Taneja and me.

(Reflecting on Teach For India's 15-Year Celebration) I recently attended Teach For India's 15-year celebration, and it was a truly nostalgic experience, transporting me back to my fellowship days (2015-2017). The event's theme, "Lead with Love," reminded me of many moments I shared with my 24 little humans (Grade 3 and 4 children) where we discussed why terrorism exists to writing letters for children of Syria and praying that no child deserves being snatched away from a safe and healthy childhood, ever. The reunion reaffirmed that every step we take as educators shapes a child's life. I also got an opportunity to be a panelist and discuss 'What Child Safety means' along with Chaitali Sheth and Mathangi PN for 30 fellows. These two-day experiences have re-instilled core values: 1. Compassion 2. Courage 3. Creativity 4. Love These values have always (before and after fellowship) guided me professionally and personally. Thank you, Teach For India for reigniting my passion and reminding me of the power of love and leadership in education. :) Special thanks to Shaheen Mistri , Ramabhadran Sundaram , Aparna Namboodiri and to the entire staff of TFI for pulling the two days event so well! It was lovely to catch up with the cohort of 2015, other fellows and alumni, my first Manager Apoorv Shah , meeting the all time fabulous person Saahil Sood , meeting Santosh More for the first time , and many other friends. #TeachForIndia #LeadWithLove #EducationMatters #NostalgicMoments #EducatorLife #EmpoweringChildren

Tales of Hope: Ensuring quality education for all Countless children, filled with immense potential, are denied quality education due to deep-rooted structural inequalities. Across India, an alarming shortage of 1.2 million teachers has left schools under-resourced and young minds without guidance. For children from low-income families, this often results in dropping out, leaving dreams unfulfilled and futures put on hold. Teach For India (TFI) is on a mission to change this reality. Through its Fellowship program, passionate teachers commit two years to teaching in under-resourced schools. This effort provides immediate support to struggling classrooms while inspiring long-term change in communities. Fellows also gain valuable experience, in the education and social sectors. Since 2015, #InfosysFoundation has supported this mission by equipping TFI with advanced technology, process automation, and ed-tech solutions that amplify their reach and effectiveness. Together, over 1,100 Fellows have been empowered, impacting 38,000 students across 331 low-income schools. Through collaboration and the right support, we aim to unlock a future where every child can thrive. #InfosysCSR | #TalesOfHope | #TeachForIndia | #EducationForAll

Can choosing purpose over convention lead to profound personal and social impact? Yash did just that. He went from managing sales at a bank to shaping young minds in a Bangalore classroom. Read on to see how. Six months into his role as a channel sales manager, Yash found himself questioning his path. The toxic work environment and relentless pursuit of sales targets left him yearning for meaningful work. His reflection led him to the Teach For India Fellowship, driven by his belief that quality education could address fundamental societal challenges like income inequality and gender inequity. The transition wasn't easy. Classroom management, curriculum planning, and maintaining work-life balance tested Yash's resolve daily. Yet, it was in these challenges that Yash discovered his true calling. He transformed his classroom into a space of mutual respect and eager learning through patient relationship-building and innovative teaching methods. One of his most touching moments came during a summer camp when a Student named Rohini declared, "I want to become a teacher like Yash Bhaiya," validating his decision to switch careers. Another breakthrough arrived when a traditionally disruptive Student found his passion for mathematics through a Duolingo course Yash introduced. Yash's impact is evident in small victories, like when Nida stepped up to manage the class during his illness, showcasing the leadership he's nurtured. He's especially proud of Akmal, who transformed from aggressive to a supportive peer, encouraging quieter classmates to participate. Yash one day dreams of establishing a holistic school that's one with nature, where curiosity thrives and every child feels like they belong. His journey from corporate banking to education goes beyond Student transformation; it has been one of discovering his true purpose. For Yash, each small win reaffirms that he's exactly where he needs to be, making the impact he always dreamed of. Apply for the Fellowship at apply.teachforindia.org Yash Jauhari

Co-Founder of Lakshya Jeevan Jagriti The Global Good Fund Fellow I Gratitude Network Fellow | Cherie Blair Foundation I Young Social Entrepreneur at Singapore International Foundation I Global Child Rights Activist
At Lakshya Jeevan Jagriti , our purpose is to transform the lives of vulnerable girls and marginalized communities by addressing the systemic #barriers that perpetuate cycles of poverty, #fear, and inequality. We envision a world where every girl can live without fear, dream without #limits, and achieve #without restrictions. In the slums, where #safety is a luxury and education a distant hope, young girls face relentless challenges—abuse, trafficking, child marriage, and social invisibility. These harsh realities strip them of their dignity and potential. At Lakshya Jeevan Jagriti, we #refuse to accept this as their destiny. Our mission is to create safe spaces where girls can #learn, #grow, and #thrive. We provide access to education, digital literacy, vocational training, and mental well-being programs, enabling them to break free from cycles of dependency. By addressing critical issues like menstrual hygiene, healthcare, and legal literacy, we restore their #dignity and empower them to claim their rights. But our #impact doesn’t stop with the individual. We actively engage families, neighbors, and community leaders to challenge harmful social norms and build a culture that values and protects its daughters. By fostering resilience and #leadership among young girls, we aim to nurture changemakers who inspire transformation in their own communities. Through our work, we strive not just to intervene but to ignite hope, resilience, and self-belief. Every girl deserves the opportunity to live a life free from fear and full of promise, and we are committed to ensuring that no dream is too distant or unattainable. #Together, we can build a future where girls no longer have to survive the darkness but shine as beacons of change in their communities. Attending the TFI 15 celebrations in Mumbai was an unforgettable experience! It was an absolute honour to represent our organisation Svatah: Education Foundation and talk about the meaningful work we are doing. I felt especially proud to speak about the Svatah Bhavishya Project, which focuses on equipping school children with practical knowledge and essential skills in financial literacy. By teaching kids the basics of money management and informed decision-making ,we're helping build a generation that's financially confident and responsible. This milestone wouldn't have been possible without the support and efforts of our team Rahi Kayarkar Preethi Rajashekar Ragini Ravichandran Santosh Kumar Reddy Dinne Shivani Agarwal. Thank you! The event also gave me a chance to meet inspiring people and organizations who are doing amazing work in their fields. We also included fun quizzes and crosswords, which made learning about financial literacy engaging and interactive.Feeling grateful and inspired to continue making an impact. . . . #Grateful.

Some thoughts after attending TFI15: 1) It takes more than 2 years to learn how to teach well. 2) It takes bravery and stubbornness and luck and confidence to choose to stay in the classroom long enough to get good at it. Even more to get great at it. 3) Those of us who made that choice need to get better at using our voices to articulate that it takes time to build instructional expertise, and that instructional expertise matters 4) I am forever grateful for the many folks in my life I can talk to who push my thinking, read with me, and just generally make me smarter, and I’m glad I got to spend time with some of them this weekend 💕 5) I need to get better at articulating that both my own research and the research I mentor is grounded in a belief that research shouldn’t be limited to academia and instead is a vital tool in service of social justice and liberation, and sharing my methodological choices, which push for participatory and emancipatory work as much as possible 6) Meeting folks who are committed to both radical love and rigor brings me joy and hope and I can’t wait to do more of it 🥰
