About us
Team RoverX, a part of Creation Labs at VIT University, is an all undergraduate student-driven project team. We are a bunch of motivated and driven individuals that attract a great deal of media due to our project endeavors and application oriented workshops. We work on developing a prototype of the Martian rover which we use to compete in different international competitions including URC (University Rover Challenge), ERC (European Rover Challenge) and IRC (International Rover Challenge). These competitions provide a platform for student-run teams from all over the globe to showcase their respective rovers. In our previous two (i.e. in 2015 and 2016) participations in ERC we were able to complete all the tasks successfully and secured 13th and 12th rank respectively among teams from top universities such as McGill, Yale, IIT-Bombay and many others. We were also ranked 1st in Asia in both editions. Working in the Rover team brings with it, a chance to work with students from various disciplines of engineering, therefore enhancing our knowledge. Viewing a problem from different perspectives helps us explore different possibilities. It provides us the opportunity to work with the team and follow a timeline based approach. Henceforth helps us understand the work culture in industries and problem-solving in the real world. This according to us is a critical component that goes behind creating future engineers. The Rover Challenge happens to be the perfect match, challenging enough to keep us on our toes all the time. They provide an application-based platform where we can apply our theoretical knowledge, showcase our talent and have some fun.

We’re incredibly grateful to Autodesk for the opportunity to showcase our Mars rover prototype at Bengaluru! It was an honor to have our project seen by Autodesk’s CEO Andrew Anagnost and COO Steve Blum, and to share our work with the community. Designing and building our Mars rover with Autodesk Fusion has been transformative, enabling us to bring our vision to life. A huge thank you to Autodesk for supporting student innovation and recognizing the potential of our work. This experience has motivated us to reach new heights in Space Exploration and Engineering. #TeamRoverX #ExploreBeyondThePossible #VITVellore #AutodeskFusion
During their visit to Autodesk's Bengaluru office, our CEO, Andrew Anagnost, and COO, Steve Blum explored inspiring products created by students from Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) and a startup, Thinkerbell Labs, using #AutodeskFusion, our integrated cloud-based design and make platform. Annie: An award-winning educational tool made by Thinkerbell Labs in #India has been designed to empower visually impaired children in literacy and numeracy. The product was recognized as one of The TIME Best Inventions of 2022. The team relied on #AutodeskFusion as their main creative tool, designing the entire product on a unified, integrated platform. Daruka: Students from Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT)’s cutting-edge Mars rover prototype, equipped with a 5DOF robotic arm, is designed for advanced exploration and scientific research. This integrated science system can detail soil analysis, providing insights into Mars' geology and potential signs of life. It can operate autonomously/under remote control for mission flexibility. We’re proud to support design and innovation that drives real-world impact while pushing the boundaries of the #DesignandMake industries. #FusionforManufacturing #Innovation Prakash Kota Smitha Raghunath Prabhjot Minhas Lipika Kapil DEBLEENA MAJUMDAR

Reminiscing graVITas 2024! This year's installment of graVITas was an invigorating experience, allowing us to showcase the unique technical and design aspects of our latest Mars rover prototype, "Daruka", to all the event’s visitors. The event kicked off with a collaboration between our team and the robotics company Xibotics, where we helped welcome attendees in a novel way. Our rover, along with the humanoid head, greeted the gathering while drones unfurled the graVITas flag, officially marking the start of the fest. This year, we had the privilege of presenting our rover at the Autodesk stall, highlighting our extensive use of Autodesk's Fusion software in designing and building the rover. The exhibit gave us the chance to showcase our prototype and ideas to a diverse range of visitors, while their feedback provided valuable insights into potential applications and future advancements for the rover. The fest also provided us with the exciting opportunity to showcase our prototype to the press, resulting in our feature in The Hindu newspaper. Seeing our rover featured in such a prestigious publication gave us a huge boost of motivation to continue #ExploringBeyondThePossible and push the boundaries of technology and innovation. Finally, we would like to express our gratitude to Vellore Institute of Technology and the Office of Students' Welfare for providing us with the platform to showcase our talents. We also extend our thanks to Autodesk and Anand Pujari for their continued support.
