SEBI shares new directives for BRSR The body recently focused on several Business Responsibility and Sustainability Reporting (BRSR) updates. Here are some key takeaways: 1. Assurance or Assessment Options: - Companies can now opt for either "assurance" or "assessment" for BRSR Core/ESG disclosures. - Assessment standards will be established by the Industry Standards Forum (ISF) in collaboration with SEBI. 2. Value Chain ESG Disclosures: - Revised Timeline: Mandatory reporting will begin in FY 2025-26, with assurance or assessment starting in FY 2026-27. - Voluntary Reporting Approach: The previous 'comply-or-explain' framework is now voluntary, allowing optional first-year disclosures and inclusion of historical data. - Narrowed Scope: Focused disclosures on value chain partners exceeding 2% of purchases or sales, capped at 75% total coverage, reducing reporting obligations. 3. Green Credits Reporting: - Voluntary disclosures for green credits generated or acquired, aligning with the government’s Green Credit Scheme. - These changes offer enhanced flexibility and clarity, making ESG reporting more accessible while promoting sustainability and corporate responsibility.
