Prime Minister #NarendraModi on Thursday described the just-concluded #MahaKumbh as an event that signalled the rise of national consciousness of India—an occasion that mirrors the turn of an era. Lauding the world’s largest gathering, where over 66 crore people, double the population of the US, as the “Maha Kumbh of unity”, Modi said the 45-day celebration had showcased the rising prowess of India to the world. “Maha Kumbh has concluded. A festival of unity has concluded. Amid chants of 'Har Har Mahadev', a multitude of pilgrims from across the country on Wednesday took a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam on Mahashivratri as the 45-day Maha Kumbh inched towards its closure. Maha Kumbh began on January 13 (Paush Purnima) and saw a grand processions of Naga Sadhus and three Amrit Snans. In a major crackdown on illegal #immigration following the deportation of #Punjabi migrants from the US, the Punjab Police on Tuesday registered 24 FIRs after raiding 1,274 immigration firms and travel agencies across the state. Seven travel agents were arrested for alleged fraudulent activities. The operation, overseen by Special DGP (Law and Order) Arpit Shukla, was initiated on the orders of DGP Gaurav Yadav.
