🌍 Today is #WorldChildrensDay! “𝘛𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘣𝘦 𝘯𝘰 𝘬𝘦𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘳 𝘳𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘰𝘧 𝘢 𝘴𝘰𝘤𝘪𝘦𝘵𝘺’𝘴 𝘴𝘰𝘶𝘭 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘢𝘺 𝘪𝘯 𝘸𝘩𝘪𝘤𝘩 𝘪𝘵 𝘵𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘴 𝘪𝘵𝘴 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥𝘳𝘦𝘯.” – Nelson Mandela This year’s theme, "𝗟𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲," is a powerful reminder that children aren’t just the voices of tomorrow; they are THE voices we need to hear today. Their ideas, dreams, and questions matter. 𝑯𝒆𝒓𝒆’𝒔 𝒔𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒐 𝒕𝒓𝒚 𝒊𝒏 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒄𝒍𝒂𝒔𝒔𝒓𝒐𝒐𝒎: 𝐋𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐢𝐫𝐜𝐥𝐞𝐬: Create a space where your students can share what’s on their minds—their hopes, ideas, and even their worries about the future. Sometimes, all it takes is a quiet moment to hear them. 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭-𝐋𝐞𝐝 𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬: Let them take charge. Whether it’s leading a discussion or designing an activity, this is their chance to show what matters most to them. 💭What if we paused more often to listen to our students truly? What if we didn’t just teach but learn from them? 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭’𝐬 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐲 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐧 𝐭𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐩 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐚𝐬 𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐞? Lack of sanitation facilities also prevents girls from attending school, especially during menstruation, while frequent contact with unsafe water puts them at higher risk for illnesses. 𝐖𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐉𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐥📊 Ask students to track their water use at home for one week and calculate ways to cut down waste. Share these insights in class, initiating discussions on how small actions can lead to big changes. Seeing the data firsthand helps them understand the precious nature of water resources. 2.𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐖𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐀𝐮𝐝𝐢𝐭 🔍 Engage students in auditing water use in the school. Identify areas where water could be conserved (like fixing leaks or reducing water in bathrooms) and create a plan to implement small changes. This gives them hands-on experience in problem-solving and conservation. 💧 Encourage your students to think critically, take ownership, and become advocates for change. Every drop saved brings us closer to a sustainable future! 🌍 How will you inspire water conservation in your classroom? Share your ideas below!  #water #girlseducation #teachers #Tomorrowsmith

The left side shows a young girl in a rural setting, carrying a water container and wistfully looking at a school bus. The right side depicts a hopeful classroom scene where students in uniforms conduct a "Community Water Audit," taking notes, analysing charts, and discussing solutions for water conservation. The headline reads, "Shortage of Water Steals Education," followed by the text: "Girls in many areas in India spend up to 6 hours daily fetching water." At the bottom, a thought-provoking question asks, "What are you doing to ensure their path leads to school instead?" Tomorrowsmith's logo is placed on top right
  • 🎉 Happy #ChildrensDay! 🎉 Today, we celebrate Children’s Day in honor of #JawaharlalNehru ’s love for children—their laughter, their curiosity, and the unique potential each of them holds. 💫 It’s a reminder for us to look at the world through their eyes, to see the wonder in the little things, and to nurture the big dreams that live in their hearts.🥳 Today let’s take a moment to share those heartwarming moments that make teaching so fulfilling. • 𝗖𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗨𝗽 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗫𝗰𝗲𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 Informal spaces are just as important as formal training when it comes to teacher support and collaboration. At Tomorrowsmith Foundation, we empower teachers by fostering social capital and creating safe spaces for them to share their experiences, ideas, and challenges openly. To support this, on October 19, 2024, we welcomed our dedicated group of passionate #teachers - pre-service and in-service - to Tomorrowsmith Foundation’s TeacherXcel community gathering in Delhi. Throughout the evening, we engaged in meaningful conversations highlighting the challenges and opportunities within our education system. 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗸𝗲𝘆 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗰𝘂𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴: - 𝗦𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗹l𝗼𝗿𝘀: Many teachers shared how there is an acute shortage of school counsellors and their persobnal stories of it impacts students' well-being. We explored ways the Tomorrowsmith Foundation can advocate for better support systems and provide resources to teachers. - 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗔𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲: We discussed concerns about teacher absenteeism in government schools and the need for improved accountability. The pre-service teachers shared how it impacts their motivation during their internships in these schools when they end up being substitute teachers instead of learning the actual day-to-day work of a teacher. - 𝗠𝗶𝘀𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲𝗱 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀: An engaging dialogue emerged around Karva Chauth, where trainee teachers shared how government teachers spent time getting mehndi done by the trainees and students instead of classroom instruction. We discussed how even though cultural celebrations need to be integrated, they should not compromise valuable teaching time. 👉 If you are a teacher or an organisation inspired by the discussions we had during the meetup, we invite you to partner with us or reach out at info@tomorrowsmith.org.in.  🙏 If you are a donor passionate about educational transformation, give us your support. It would enable us to develop and implement programs that directly address these challenges.Together, we can make a lasting impact on the education sector. #Education #SocialCapital #Teachers #Community #PeerLearning #Tomorrowsmith

Yet, I've noticed a troubling trend: the enduring narrative of teaching as merely a 'noble profession.' While this carries a certain respect, it often undermines the true value and challenges of #teaching in today's world. Read this article to explore how this outdated view leads to unrealistic expectations, undercompensation, and a decline in the profession's aspirational value. But it's not just about identifying the problem. Let's discuss the critical steps necessary to elevate the teaching profession, ensuring that educators are recognized and rewarded as the skilled professionals they truly are. 👉𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐮𝐥𝐥 𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐥𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐣𝐨𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧. #teachersmatter #Education #Tomorrowsmith

#MeetTheFellow Say hello to Shiveka Singh, a budding teacher and a Pro-Teacher fellow. We asked her about her biggest aspiration when she started the program and how the fellowship has influenced her journey. Here's her inspiring response: "When I first joined this fellowship, my primary goal was to nurture critical thinking and ensure a curriculum that respects each learner's socio-cultural background, reducing dropout rates. I also aimed to be a professionally trained teacher, imparting knowledge effectively. However, after three months of being a member, I've acquired a range of valuable skills, including Social and Emotional Learning (SEL), Universal Design for Learning (UDL)-aligned lesson planning, and creating teaching materials tailored to diverse learners' needs. This experience has significantly enriched my ability to create an inclusive and engaging classroom environment." Join us in supporting Shiveka as she continues her journey of growth and transformation, creating inclusive learning environments where every student feels valued and empowered. #ProTeacherFellowship #InclusiveEducation #TomorrowsmithFoundation
