Building digital services that truly work for all of us involves recognizing the complexity and diversity of our needs from the outset.
It also requires cultivating a wider pool of people who understand this and can contribute through a collaborative, open-source community.
The 2nd #DPGDialogues hosted by the Code for GovTech (C4GT) initiative, explored different facets of this approach.
Mr. Amitabh Kant opened the event highlighting the need for such structured approaches in strengthening the capacity of the open-source community.
Through the day, thought leaders shared insights on key considerations for strengthening #DPIs and #DPGs. The Govt’s openness to collaboratively solve such problems came across clearly in discussion with Mr. Saurabh Gaur, Principal Secretary, ITE&C Department, Govt. of Andhra Pradesh and Mr. nand kumarum, CEO, #NeGD moderated by Nitin Kashyap, Senior VP, Samagra
Among the other discussions, conversations around e-governance and public service delivery by Ujjwal Relan (on Antyodaya Saral) and by Aniket Doegar (on Haqdarshak and its Yojana card) resonated a lot with me since they covered aspects of correct scoping of the services and ensuring key linkages for effective implementation.
The event was closed on a high by Dr. RS Sharma, a true visionary of population-scale systems and thinking. His session had many of us taking notes on the lessons learned from driving such impactful, pan-population solutions across UIDAI, TRAI, NHA and now ONDC.
Treemouse had partnered with Samagra | Transforming Governance on the C4GT Design track, mentoring open-source contributors to solve #UX challenges for 10 organizations, some of which were showcased at the event. We will talk more on these 10 engagements in a different post or article.
Building on our commitment to enable a more equitable #digital #society, we also released MAARG - a people-centric design framework for DPIs and DPGs, informed by our years of work in this space. You can access the framework from the link in the comments.
I was also part of a panel discussion on ‘Designing user-first DPIs’ with 3 strong voices from this sector- Professor Ramesh Loganathan from IIIT Hyderabad, Tanuj Bhojwani, Head, People+ai and Prerak Mehta, Partner at Dalberg Design. Moderated by Akshata Malhotra, VP Design at Samagra, we discussed the importance of user-centricity in DPIs, the gaps we still need to bridge, and what we should aim for over the next decade. I'll share key takeaways from this in an upcoming post.
This event sparked quite a few meaningful conversations, and now the real work begins—turning intent into action. Excited for the journey ahead! And looking forward to connect with others working in this space.
