At Valtrust, 2024 reminded us that true success stems from humility, curiosity, and a desire to grow. This year was a journey with twists, turns, and a few “wow, we really did that!” moments along the way. To our clients, partners, the Valtrust team, and everyone who’s cheered us on—you’ve been the wind beneath our wings (or should we say the steady hand on the wheel?). Together, we have delivered consistent value and built a foundation of trust. Looking ahead, our promise remains the same: to aim higher, stay humble, and never stop learning. Here is a quick look at how we spent 2024—building partnerships, expanding our horizons, and setting the tone for what’s next. • As regulatory constraints have effectively frozen the creation of new ETF units, creating artificial scarcity, investors are propelled to buy ETFs at premium valuations. Arihant Bardia, Founder and CIO, Valtrust has explained through an article in Mint, how exposure to international ETFs can be achieved without having to pay the premium through the Liberalized Remittance Scheme (LRS) route. • Investors may end up burning their fingers while chasing International ETFs, that are currently trading at a premium to their Net Asset Value (NAV) Arihant Bardia, CIO and Founder, Valtrust through a story in The Economic Times with Prashant Mahesh explains how LRS can be the right route to escape the premium attached to these ETFs. Money sent out of India through LRS can be used to directly trade the ETF from the exchanges without having to pay the premium. For the already invested amount, Arihant suggests exiting, if the premium is above 15%, and moving the investment in active funds. • Yield spreads and credit ratings are extremely important indicators to evaluate the risk-return profile, especially during economic uncertainty. Rahul Bhutoria, Co-founder and Director, Valtrust through a story in Business Standard talks about how Corporate bonds offer higher yields but come with some risk and are comparatively less liquid, one can use a diversified basket of these corporate bonds to enhance returns but should take into consideration the economic environment to balance risk and return. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐈𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬 There’s something deeply symbolic about the way women are stepping into the world of investing today. It mirrors the broader strides they’ve taken in every sphere – from breaking glass ceilings to shaping industries. Just the other day, I overheard two women animatedly discussing SIPs and portfolio diversification over coffee. It wasn’t just a casual conversation; it felt like a snapshot of progress. And the numbers agree – there are 10 crore registered investors on NSE, and out of that, 22% are female investors. Since 2015, the number of female investors in the Indian stock market has increased by 6.8 times. And yet, beneath this progress lies a paradox. While more women than ever are stepping into the world of investments, many do so tentatively, unsure of their footing. Without foundational literacy, investing often feels like following GPS instructions blindly, without understanding the route. This is where the gap becomes glaring: the “why” behind every investment decision. Why this mutual fund? Why this stock? Why this asset allocation? The “why” is what bridges the divide between participation and empowerment. The journey toward financial empowerment isn’t just about increasing numbers or creating more women investors. It’s about ensuring that every woman who takes that first step does so with clarity and confidence, knowing exactly why she’s on this path and what she’s working toward. The message is simple: you don’t have to know everything about investing to begin, but you do have to begin. Seek knowledge, ask questions, and find YOUR tribe. At Valtrust, we are focusing on making the investment journeys of every woman filled with purpose. Through EmpaHer, we aim to create safe, inclusive spaces for women to not only learn about investing but to understand the deeper “why” behind their financial choices. Let’s extend the dialogue on this. What do you think, how do we move from rising participation to true financial empowerment for women? #Investing #EmpaHer #FinancialLiteracy #MultiFamilyOffice
