Today, the Port observed 37th World AIDS Day, centered on the theme 'Take the rights path: My health, my right!'. Shri Susanta Kumar Purohit, IRSEE, Chairperson, flagged off the AIDS awareness rally from the Green Gate to the Administrative office. The chairperson also inaugurated the Community AIDS Awareness and Detection Camp by lighting the traditional lamp. Shri Amalavalan, Program Manager, District AIDS Prevention and Control Unit and Smt. B. Jeevan, President, HIV Positive Welfare Society delivered insightful awareness lectures. Dr.P. Naresh Kumar, Chief Medical Officer, administered the AIDS awareness pledge to the gathering. VOC Port, designated as an "Offshore Wind Energy Hub" by Government of India, is all set to construct an exclusive terminal for handling windmill blades and accessories. The terminal will feature two berths, with quay length of 470 meters, and backup area of 30 hectares for storage. VOC Port offers skilled workforce to handle over dimensional cargo, ample storage space in Port's custom bound area, congestion free port entry and seamless road connectivity. The primary and secondary hinterland of VOC Port, Tuticorin also offers large tracts of land for setting up of Windmill blade and accessories manufacturing plants.
