The Firm advised GMR Global Pte Ltd. (GGPL), on its proposed acquisition of 100% of the share capital of Hampshire Sport & Leisure Holdings Ltd (HSLHL), the owner of Hampshire Cricket and Utilita Bowl stadium. This is the first instance of a county cricket team being acquired by an overseas company, marking a historic milestone in the world of cricket. Hampshire Cricket, founded in 1863, is one of 18 First-Class counties in England and Wales. The acquisition also includes associated infrastructure in the form of Utilita Bowl, featuring a cricket stadium, hotel complex, and golf course, thereby setting a new precedent in global sports. The acquisition will be completed in phases over the next 24 months.
