The community-led Nadi Yatra Campaign aims to restore these vital small rivers and streams through collective action and sustainable practices. Key Highlights 3rd Jan – Bari Panchayat • Community-led river cleaning drive with Jal Sahiya and the Mukhiya. • A broken check dam was repaired, boosting water retention. • Discussions on building changing rooms near dhobas and prioritizing water conservation under MGNREGA. 4th Jan – Boikera Panchayat • Awareness rally addressing cleanliness issues at Pansua Dam. • The community urged the Mukhiya to ensure cleanliness and preserve the dam’s surroundings. Circular lifestyles aren’t a new concept—many Indigenous communities have been practicing sustainability and resource regeneration for generations. However, the post-Green Revolution era has introduced a host of conflicts that have made it difficult to return to these practices. At the Swaraj Samvad session on circular lifestyles, I had the chance to discuss this topic with Vikas Hasoor and Sukanta Bhattacharya. Together, we shared examples, explored barriers, and discussed potential frameworks for bringing circularity back into the fold. One key takeaway from our conversation was how complex, yet holistic, the idea of circularity is. It’s not about finding a one-size-fits-all solution—it’s about asking the right questions. The real solutions come when we question everything, and from that inquiry, better answers emerge. It’s clear that we need to do more than just admire past practices; we need to adapt them to today’s world. Whether it’s in agriculture, resource management, or community development, we need to look through a circular lens—rethinking how we regenerate and sustain, instead of depleting our resources.
