"हम वह लाल गोली नहीं खाते क्योंकि इससे बच्चा साँवला पैदा होगा।" ("I don’t take those red tablets because the baby will be born with a dark complexion") This isn't just a one-time concern—we hear it from almost every pregnant woman and their caregivers. But is it true? No! Iron Folic Acid tablets have no effect on your baby’s complexion, but skipping them can harm both you and your baby. These tablets are crucial for a healthy pregnancy, preventing anemia and ensuring your baby’s proper growth. ✅ Start taking one IFA tablet daily after breakfast from your second trimester and continue for 180 days postpartum. Don’t let age-old myths put your and your baby’s health at risk! ❌ Stay informed, stay iron-strong! 💪 #IronForStrength #HealthyMomHealthyBaby #MythBusted #ZealGrit #HealthFirst #MythBuster #IFA Purnima Jha Anshika Pandey Kiran Kumari

Social impact organisation dedicated to ensuring better health and nutrition in rural India
About us
Welcome to ZealGrit, a social impact organisation founded by Saroj and Nikhit, partners in both life and this noble cause. At ZealGrit, our mission is to create a better world for overlooked communities. We have witnessed the devastating impact of malnutrition on individual health, community well-being, and the cycle of poverty. By focusing on eradicating malnutrition, we aim to tackle these root challenges and help communities thrive. At ZealGrit, we believe that lasting change stems from the power of communities—fueled by their own enthusiasm (zeal) and determination (grit). Our philosophy is grounded in the unshakable belief that when people are given the right support, their potential can spark transformative progress. The name "ZealGrit" reflects not only our commitment but also the strength of the communities we serve, highlighting the blend of hard work, strong commitment, and a people-centric approach. Additionally, "Zeit" in German translates to "time," reminding us that the time to act is now. By working together, we can seize this moment to build a brighter future. We invite you to join ZealGrit in this impactful effort to improve lives in India. Together, we can build a society where dreams are limitless and opportunities abound. ZealGrit is more than an organisation; it’s a movement, a pledge, and a reminder of the power we have when we work together. Let’s seize this opportunity to make a significant impact and create a brighter future for the next generations. Imagine getting punished just for asking for a #sanitarynapkin at #school. Yes, you read that right. Something as natural as #menstruation remains shrouded in silence across communities, including in educational institutions, a place meant for learning and growth. Although there are policies, programs, and #teachersensitisation, the reality on the ground often tells a different story. Adolescence is a delicate phase where young individuals undergo significant physical, emotional, and social changes. Adolescents need more than just policies—they need understanding, empathy, and safe spaces to express themselves. A supportive environment can boost their confidence and give them the freedom to speak up. On the flip side, stigmatizing behavior or a lack of support can cause lasting harm, as highlighted in recent reports. It’s time to break the silence. At #ZealGrit, we have started open conversations about #menstrualhealth in schools, homes, and communities—making it a topic of empowerment, not shame. Read the TOI article in the comment about how an 11th-grade student was punished for asking for a sanitary napkin. Saroj Choudhary Anshika Pandey Purnima Jha Nikhit Agrawal

Today was particularly emotional for one of my team members. She said, "Now I am even more sure this project is so important." I asked, "What happened?" She explained: “I met a mom who’s pregnant with her third child, and she’s due any day now. She’s been throwing up since her first trimester and can’t keep any food down. She’s so pale and weak. She hasn’t been to a single antenatal check-up. Her last pregnancy was really complicated, and now she’s terrified—she was literally shaking with anxiety.” Her mother-in-law has been supportive, but the community has been blaming her instead of helping. With tears in her eyes, the mom asked us, “Aap kuch din pehle kyu nahi aayi?” (Why didn’t you come a few days earlier?). It broke our hearts to hear that no one had told her how important antenatal care is—getting ultrasounds, checking on the baby, or seeking help when her health was getting worse. When we reached out, she finally opened up. Why? Because she felt safe with us. She could tell we were there to support her, not to judge. This is just one story. There are so many more like it. Yes, stories like this are hard to hear. But they also remind us why *Project 1000 Days* is so critical for moms and kids in Supaul. Follow ZealGrit Foundation to hear more real stories from the field. And if this work resonates with you, please consider donating or connect us with like-minded organisations and indidividuals to help us make a difference. A girl’s problems are often different from a boy’s. This is especially true in rural Bihar. Many girls are married off at a young age, stopping them from following their dreams. At ZealGrit, we want to change this. We want their families to let them dream big. Read this blog by Purnima Jha to see how we are working on it.

Lunchboxes might seem like a small thing, but they are so much more. They give growing #adolescents the energy to learn, grow, and thrive. Here in Triveniganj, #Bihar, many schoolgirls didn’t even know what it meant to carry a lunchbox. Breakfast was often skipped, and lunchtime hunger was satisfied with chips or street snacks. It was just how things were—out of habit, convenience, or simply not knowing healthier alternatives. With #ProjectSwasthKanya, through various playful activities, we started talking to them about why proper meals are so important at this age. How a healthy lunch makes their minds sharper, their bodies stronger, and their health better. Slowly, things started to change. They began bringing tiffins to school, packed with simple, homemade meals. It might seem like a #smallchange, but it’s a #bigstepforward and there is still a lot to do. But, those lunchboxes now stand for health, hope, and a brighter future. They are proof that even small actions can make a real difference. Let’s keep supporting these girls—because every meal matters, and so does your support!
