Job Overview:

We are seeking a Fabric Technologist/Senior Fabric Technologist to drive innovation in fabric development and sourcing. The ideal candidate will have a strong academic foundation in Textile Technology and a passion for exploring and creating unique, high-performance fabrics. This role offers the opportunity to work with a dynamic team while shaping the future of textiles at CTA Apparels.

Roles and Responsibilities:

1. Fabric Development and Innovation

• Lead research and development efforts to create new fabrics, finishes, and applications.
• Collaborate with designers and production teams to align fabric innovations with market trends and client requirements.
• Experiment with new materials, blends, and techniques to achieve unique and high-performance fabrics.
• Optimize fabric properties such as texture, weight, color fastness, and durability for various applications.

2. Fabric Sourcing

• Travel extensively to identify and source fabrics from local and international markets.
• Build strong relationships with fabric mills and suppliers to ensure access to high-quality, sustainable materials.
• Negotiate and evaluate supplier offerings based on performance, sustainability, and cost.
• Ensure the timely delivery of sourced fabrics to meet production deadlines.

3. Technical Expertise and Quality Assurance

• Test fabrics for quality, consistency, and compliance with industry standards and client specifications.
• Ensure fabric properties such as shrinkage, color fastness, tensile strength, and breathability are optimized for production.
• Provide technical support to production teams to resolve fabric-related issues during manufacturing.
• Recommend adjustments in fabric composition or treatments to enhance performance and functionality.

4. Sustainability Initiatives

• Drive the adoption of eco-friendly and sustainable materials, aligning with CTA’s commitment to environmental stewardship.
• Collaborate with suppliers and mills to develop fabrics with reduced environmental impact.
• Contribute to recycling and circular economy initiatives by exploring innovative uses for fabric waste and recycled materials.

5. Collaboration and Communication

• Work closely with design, production, and merchandising teams to ensure fabric compatibility with garment designs and end-user expectations.
• Provide fabric-related insights during client meetings and presentations to demonstrate technical expertise and innovation capabilities.
• Coordinate with the Quality Control team to maintain high standards throughout the fabric lifecycle.

6. Data Management and Reporting

• Maintain detailed records of fabric specifications, test results, and sourcing activities.
• Prepare and present reports on fabric development progress, sourcing outcomes, and market trends.
• Use data analytics to identify opportunities for cost optimization, quality improvements, and innovation.

7. Industry Engagement and Trend Analysis

• Stay updated on the latest advancements in textile technology, materials, and industry trends.
• Attend trade shows, exhibitions, and conferences to gather insights and identify new opportunities for fabric innovation.
• Monitor competitor activities to ensure CTA Apparels remains at the forefront of textile innovation.

8. Problem-Solving and Troubleshooting

• Address fabric-related challenges in production, such as defects or inconsistencies.
• Develop practical solutions to enhance fabric performance during garment manufacturing.

• Successful integration of sustainable and eco-friendly materials into the product line.
• Efficient and effective fabric sourcing to ensure uninterrupted production.
• Comprehensive data on fabric performance, sourcing, and trends for strategic decision-making.

Qualifications & Experience:

Education:

• Graduate in Textile Technology from reputed institutes such as TIT&S, Bhiwani, CTTI, Kanpur, or equivalent.
• Post-graduate degree in related fields from renowned institutions is highly desirable.

Experience:

• 3-6 years of proven experience in fabric development, sourcing, or a related field.

Skills and Traits:

• Strong inclination towards experimenting and innovation in fabric development.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Willingness to travel extensively to distant locations for fabric sourcing and partnerships.
