Work method variations create lot of production losses and quality issues in manufacturing industries. Standard work (also known as Standardized work) is a Lean manufacturing tool that helps eliminate variations by defining each step in a process and performing it uniformly every time. Standard work establishes the most efficient way to perform a task or function using available equipment, people, and materials.   Depending too much on the people will create various operational issues ,standardization helps in converting best methods into well-established system dependent organizations. As quoted by Mr.Masaiki Imai,there can be no improvement without standards, So establishing the standards is key for kaizens. Standardization helps in sustaining and improving the current standards. Work improvement standards are not taken up as so serious against the other standards in many industries.
