The serene and picturesque surroundings of the Mohali campus immediately struck me. Walking through the campus, I noticed the vibrant student community engaged in lively discussions and activities. The atmosphere was alive with energy and enthusiasm yet remained remarkably calm and conducive to learning. The first residency has given me a sense of how being at ISB will foster my intellectual growth and leadership development. My first impression of the Mohali ISB campus was both fascinating and inspiring. A shoutout and special thanks to CA Kavita gandhi ,Founder of Clinicatalyst, for her Masterclass on ‘Fundamentals of Finance and Key Performance Indicators for Healthcare’ as part of the Indian School of Business AMPH (Indian School of Business – Advanced Management Program in Healthcare) speaker series for the 2025 cohort. Ms. Gandhi’s extensive experience and expertise in Indian Healthcare Finance made this a very informative and engaging session for our cohort. Seventy percent of our batch consists of doctors and core healthcare professionals who have limited exposure to and knowledge of finance topics and P&Ls. However, Ms. Gandhi broke down complex financial statements into smaller, understandable concepts. Using real-life examples, many of us managing our own hospital units were able to relate to the theoretical jargon. She kept the session simple and engaging, enabling the batch to derive real value from the highly interactive discussion. Key takeaways included the importance of defining goals and adapting appropriate metrics depending on the stage of the healthcare business, not relying entirely on one or two KPIs, and maintaining constant mindfulness of the financial health of the business.

The ISB community shares the grief of the nation on the passing away of Dr Manmohan Singh, Former Prime Minister of India. ISB had the honour of hosting Dr Singh as the chief guest during its 5th year celebrations in 2006, where he delivered the inaugural address. Speaking about the importance of management education in India and the role of institutions such as ISB, Dr Singh remarked: “Management like any discipline dealing with people is more of an art than a science. There is quite understandably a difference in approach in management philosophies and practices as developed in the United States, Europe and Japan. Perhaps one can even talk of a Chinese model of management. Clearly there should be an Indian model too. Even as we learn from the West and the East, we must try and evolve our own paradigm of management education based on our own social and cultural attributes.” In 2017, he visited our Mohali campus to deliver a keynote at the ISB Leadership Summit and to see for himself the campus he played a role in setting up. Today, as we mourn his passing away with profound sadness, we offer our deepest condolences.  Watch his full inaugural address during ISB's 5th year celebration here: https://lnkd.in/gWX8w9S2 #ISB #ManmohanSingh
