In India, in areas lacking footpaths, pedestrians are advised to walk on the right side of the road, facing oncoming traffic, to ensure their safety. This crucial guideline, however, was unfamiliar to many students and teachers in primary schools across the Hinjewadi area. In November, the Impact Practice team visited three Zilla Parishad Primary Schools in Hinjewadi, Pune to conduct engaging and informative road safety awareness sessions. These sessions featured vibrant, volunteer-created posters with slogans and illustrations, which captured the students' attention and made the learning experience enjoyable. The awareness programme addressed essential topics such as road-crossing techniques, traffic signal rules, cycling safety, and school bus precautions tailored for primary and secondary students. The positive response was overwhelming, with students enthusiastically sharing how they are adopting safer practices. They spoke about cycling cautiously in heavy traffic, avoiding stunts on bicycles, and ensuring they don’t stand or lean out of school buses while in motion. Located near busy highways, these schools have embraced the initiative, recognising its potential to instil lasting road safety habits among children. The headteacher of one of the Zilla Parishad Schools is already using road safety materials in their scout gate camp activities, paving the way for wider implementation. With over 190 pupils sensitised so far and awareness posters handed over to school authorities, these resources will continue to be utilised, amplifying the impact to reach many more students in the future. #ImpactPractice #EmployeeVolunteering #CSR #Sustainability #RoadSafety #RoadSafetyAwareness #StudentRoadSafetyAwareness #ImpactDistribution #PositiveImpact Manoviraj Singh | Manasi Diwan | Abhishek Tyagi | Dr Smita Kamat Ghosh | Krithika Loganathan | Rupsha Chatterjee | Forum Panchal | Shruthi J | Kanika Ghildiyal | Punithjoline Mane | Drishty Chavan | CSRBOX

#StoriesfromtheField A visit to Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, for a baseline assessment on malnutrition and anaemia unfolded into a powerful journey of discovery and learning. This initiative, focusing on children under five, pregnant and lactating mothers, and women of reproductive age, revealed critical insights into health awareness and community resilience. In rural villages, interactions with families painted a sobering picture: knowledge of pre-natal and post-natal care was often vague or misunderstood. Many women lacked access to accurate information, underscoring the urgent need for community-focused education. This programme aims to bridge these gaps through nutritional monitoring, awareness campaigns on antenatal (ANC) and postnatal (PNC) care, and a holistic approach to preventing malnutrition. One of the most impactful moments was working with the ENA (Emergency Nutrition Assessment) software. By measuring height, weight, and mid-upper arm circumference (MUAC), I gained hands-on experience assessing severe acute malnutrition (SAM), moderate acute malnutrition (MAM), as well as wasting and stunting among children. While this technical learning was eye-opening, the human stories behind the data were even more profound. Women shared their challenges—balancing traditional caregiving roles with limited access to health services, battling misconceptions about nutrition, and striving to give their children a better future. The resilience in their voices was undeniable. One mother’s hope resonated deeply: “I want my child to be healthy and strong. I am learning, and I will do whatever it takes.” The programme’s integrated approach, implementing concepts like the “First 1000 Days,” aims to transform these hopes into reality. By promoting healthy feeding practices, proper sanitation (WASH), and fostering nutritious food habits from infancy, this initiative aligns with and supplements vital government schemes like POSHAN Abhiyan and Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS). This experience was more than just an assessment; it was a lesson in the importance of tailored interventions, continuous education, and the incredible potential for change when communities are empowered with knowledge and resources. #HealthAndNutrition #MaternalHealth #ChildHealth #Malnutrition #NutritionAwareness #AntenatalCare #PostnatalCare #CommunityEmpowerment #WASH #POSHANAbhiyan #ICDS #WomenEmpowerment #PublicHealth #BuildingResilience #CSRBOX #ImpactPractice CSRBOX Impact Practice (by CSRBOX) Bhomik Shah Manasi Diwan Adesh Sah Krithika Loganathan Ritika Verma Moinak Goswami Siddhi Bhatt Punithjoline Mane Aaheli Gupta Nabonita Bose Danish Shaikh Kavya Ponnalagan Aditi Mishra Nandini Sreeraman

#StoriesfromtheField A visit to Kolhapur for a social impact study turned into an unforgettable journey of inspiration. Meeting rural women entrepreneurs who are defying odds, breaking barriers, and creating ripples of change in their communities was nothing short of transformative. These women aren’t just running small businesses—they’re rewriting societal norms and reshaping their futures. One story that deeply resonated with me was of a woman who started her entrepreneurial journey with a modest tailoring business. A microloan helped her buy her first sewing machine. What began as a means to support her family has grown into a thriving enterprise, employing five other women in her village. Her transformation didn’t just change her life; it uplifted those around her. She shared, “I earn for myself now. I don’t have to ask anyone for money. That feels like freedom.” Then there was the farmer who struggled to make ends meet but turned her fortunes around after attending a training session on crop diversification and sustainable farming. Armed with knowledge and confidence, she doubled her income in just a year. Her pride was evident when she said, “For the first time, I feel like I’m contributing to my children’s future in a meaningful way. I can send them to school without worrying about the fees.” What stood out most during these interactions wasn’t just their entrepreneurial success but their sheer determination to rise above their circumstances. Financial hardships, societal pressures, and limited resources had challenged them every step of the way. “They didn’t think I could handle both work and home. Now, they see my achievements and respect me for it,” one woman said, her voice filled with pride. Challenges persist—balancing caregiver roles with running businesses, accessing loans, and gaining training opportunities remain uphill battles. But these obstacles only seem to fuel their resolve. Their stories are a testament to the boundless potential of women when given the right opportunities and support. They remind us that when women rise, entire communities rise with them. Witnessing their resilience reinforced my belief in the transformative power of social impact initiatives. We’re thrilled to embark on a strategic journey as we expand into a new geographic region! CSRBOX and Impact Practice (by CSRBOX) have signed an MOU with the CSR Authority of Assam (CSRAA) under the Industries, Commerce & Public Enterprises Department of the Government of Assam to strengthen the CSR ecosystem in the state. This collaboration will focus on driving impactful social and environmental initiatives and addressing the gap in Assam's CSR funding. We’re eager to work on sustainable development projects that will support Assam’s key sectors. Glad to share that CSRBOX (Impact Practice (by CSRBOX) has officially signed an MOU with the CSR Authority of Assam (CSRAA), under the Industries, Commerce & Public Enterprises Department of the Government of Assam! This partnership marks a significant step toward strengthening the CSR ecosystem in Assam and driving impactful social and environmental initiatives across the state. Assam, despite contributing over 1.9% to India’s GDP, receives less than 0.5% of the nation’s CSR funding. This disparity is something we’re determined to address. Assam’s economy is deeply connected to its forests, agriculture, fisheries, and mining, and CSR plays a crucial role in driving sustainable development in these sectors. We’re excited to embark on this journey and are committed to catalyzing partnerships that foster growth, sustainability, and conservation in Assam. Special thanks to the state leadership for this opportunity—we’re eager to roll out transformative initiatives that will make a lasting impact in the months ahead!
