What a great pleasure and honor to attend the launch of the first vessel in a series of six future-proof 3,800 TDW bulk carriers being built for Wilson ASA at Udupi Cochin Shipyard Limited. With a fleet of around 140 vessels, Wilson is the largest and leading short sea shipping company in Europe, transporting approx 15 million tonnes of dry cargo annually. In addition to the series of six 3,800 TDW vessels, Wilson has placed an order for eight 6,300 TDW vessels from Udupi Cochin Shipyard, bringing the total to 14 vessels. Representing one of the largest investments in the company’s nearly 100-year history, this fleet will set new standards for efficiency and sustainability in the transportation of important bulk products across Europe.
