In India, HMPV is 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐚 𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐯𝐢𝐫𝐮𝐬, having been detected since 2003, and cases are reported every year. The Union Health Ministry has emphasized that there has been 𝐧𝐨 𝐮𝐧𝐮𝐬𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐠𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐇𝐌𝐏𝐕 𝐜𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐲. The Integrated Disease Surveillance Program (IDSP) continues to monitor influenza-like illness (ILI) and severe acute respiratory infections (SARI), confirming no significant increase in respiratory illnesses. HMPV typically 𝐜𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞𝐬 𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐝, 𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟-𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬, similar to the common cold. Certain groups such as young children, the elderly, and individuals with compromised immune systems may be more vulnerable to severe symptoms. • 𝐇𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐧 𝐌𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐩𝐧𝐞𝐮𝐦𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐫𝐮𝐬 (𝐇𝐌𝐏𝐕) is a common respiratory virus that has been circulating globally for many years and is not a new virus. Currently, there is no unusual increase in respiratory illness cases in India. As of today, The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has identified two cases of Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV) in Bengaluru, Karnataka, through routine surveillance. Both cases involve infants with a history of bronchopneumonia, and they are currently recovering or have been discharged. The public has been advised to stay informed through reliable sources and continue following general health precautions, such as: 👉 Maintaining good respiratory and hand hygiene practices  👉 Avoiding close contact with sick individuals. 👉 Masking in crowded places For more information and updates, follow us on X (https://lnkd.in/g6Nk2uf7) and LinkedIn (https://lnkd.in/gc2GPnCU) #HMPV #PublicHealth

  • 🔍Weekly #EventBasedSurveillance | Uttar Pradesh Across #UttarPradesh, cities like Bijnor, Firozabad, and Ballia are witnessing a rise in winter-related diarrhea cases, especially among children.  Over the last three days in Bijnor, 20+ cases of winter #diarrhea and 12 cases of pneumonia have been reported. In Firozabad, 40% of 225 daily pediatric patients are affected by diarrhea, dehydration, and respiratory illnesses. Ballia has also seen a surge in cold diarrhea and #pneumonia cases. Read here: https://lnkd.in/gCJdWHhK Hospitals across the state have increased focus on #pediatric care, ensuring that critical cases of diarrhea and pneumonia receive immediate attention. Doctors emphasize the following: 👉 𝘔𝘰𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘴𝘺𝘮𝘱𝘵𝘰𝘮𝘴 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘧𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳, 𝘷𝘰𝘮𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨, 𝘢𝘣𝘥𝘰𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘱𝘢𝘪𝘯, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘣𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘥𝘪𝘧𝘧𝘪𝘤𝘶𝘭𝘵𝘪𝘦𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥𝘳𝘦𝘯 👉𝘌𝘯𝘴𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘩𝘺𝘥𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘖𝘙𝘚  👉𝘚𝘦𝘦𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘮𝘦𝘥𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘭 𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘥𝘦𝘭𝘢𝘺 👉𝘐𝘮𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘩𝘺𝘥𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘵𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘤𝘭𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘥𝘶𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘸𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳 Read here: https://lnkd.in/gM_ZRRQU The surge is related to cold weather, which weakens immune systems, especially in children, making them more susceptible to viral infections. The virus causing diarrhea thrives in colder temperatures, exacerbating its spread. Additionally, dehydration becomes a silent contributor. During #winter, children often drink less water, and reduced fluid intake can lead to severe dehydration, especially with diarrhea. States like #Delhi, #Maharashtra, #Bihar, #UttarPradesh, #Chhattisgarh, and #MadhyaPradesh are expected to experience cold waves, as per India Meteorological Department. Preventive actions are crucial to mitigate the risk of winter illnesses. #Coldwave 💡𝐆𝐞𝐭 𝐩𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐭𝐢𝐩𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐲 𝐬𝐚𝐟𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡𝐲—𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐜𝐤 𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐖𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐆𝐮𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐧𝐨𝐰!
