Stayed one night with my extended family of 15 pax + 5 small children. We were 5 separate families, and in an ideal world, would have occupied all 5 rooms. This is where the world stops being ideal and turns out to be quite a nightmare. Check-in time was mentioned as 12 PM, and we arrived there around 2.15 PM to find a toilet brush in one of the water closets (apparently halfway during cleaning), and broken exhaust fans being replaced. Few calls were made, and things were cleared. The lady caretaker was cautious enough to grab the balance money barely 5 minutes after we arrived there (Red Flag #1). I believe she was expecting us to highlight all of the shortcomings and hold the balance payment in lieu. The pool was expected to be a dirty place, but since we had called beforehand to mention the pool and having second thoughts of letting kids play around in dirty water, the caretakers had cleaned this up well. However, there is straightforward evidence that this is not maintained regularly. The next morning, the pool was murky and cloudy from not having been cleaned after use. (Red Flag #2) The room nearest to the main entrance was infested with mosquitoes during the night. You would expect to have a few mosquito repellent machines or sprays to be available, since the house has open verandahs, but no. All those available were empty, and the occupants of that room had to bundle up pillows, duvets and mattresses and move into the bigger room upstairs. (Red Flag #3) The next morning, the kitchen was filled with giant carpenter ants and was inhabitable for the larger part of the morning. (Red Flag #4) We informed the caretaker about the above, but she did not seem to give a hoot about it, or even promise corrective action. If possible, I would not even give one star review.
